CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A state senator from Chesterfield County is responding to a report that she made ‘irate, boisterous’ actions towards a law enforcement officer who denied her access to a parking spot near the Capitol.
The dispute took place on the morning of Friday, March 22, according to the Capitol Police report obtained by 8News.
According to a Capitol Police report, Sen. Amanda Chase berated an officer who told her she couldn’t park in a space near the Capitol on Bank Street that is blocked off to traffic.
The officer told Sen. Chase she didn’t have permission to park there and directed her to the nearby lot that is assigned to lawmakers.
Sen. Chase responded, according to the report, by telling the officer that she feared for her life and had been receiving threats.
“I am not going to leave unless you let the f****** barricades down to let me in,” Sen. Chase is quoted as saying in the report.
Sen. Chase also told 8News that she doesn’t always feel safe parking in the lot designated for lawmakers because there isn’t a strong police presence outside that parking garage.
Sen. Chase added that she has previously parked at the same spot ‘100 times before’ being denied access.
The dispute was first reported by the Richmond-Times Dispatch.
