An investigation into alleged labor trafficking and criminal wage and hour violations in Massachusetts led investigators to an East Providence business Wednesday.

According to a spokesperson for the Massachusetts attorney general’s office, investigators executed a search warrant at Martins Maintenance on Waterman Avenue. Investigators could be seen removing items from the facility and loading them into vans Wednesday afternoon.

The state of Massachusetts defines labor trafficking as “when someone is forced to work through violence, threats, or lies.”

A sign on the front door says Martins Maintenance is closed for the day but expects to reopen Thursday. The business cleans, renovates and maintains different types of real estate, according to the secretary of state’s website.
