GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As the state works to slow the spread of coronavirus, it has taken a number of steps to limit peoples’ interactions, including a stay-at-home order telling people not to go out unless they must.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also shut down all K-12 schools in the state, ordered the closure of bars and restaurant dining rooms, among other businesses, and banned all gatherings outside a single household.

ALL COUNTIES
Amtrak Midwest: Anyone planning to travel should check their train status online. Here are routes that will be affected starting Thursday, March 18:
- Chicago-Milwaukee Hiawatha corridor service reduced to four daily roundtrips. Friday evening Hiawatha Train 343 also temporarily suspended.
- Chicago-Detroit-Pontiac Wolverine corridor service reduced to two daily roundtrips.
- Chicago-Holland-Grand Rapids Pere Marquette daily roundtrips suspended. Amtrak Thruway Bus connections to and from Grand Rapids are available daily via Kalamazoo.
- No changes to Chicago-East Lansing-Port Huron Blue Water roundtrips or Kansas City-Jefferson City-St. Louis Missouri River Runner corridor services.
- Some Amtrak Thruway Bus routes will have service modifications.
Celebration Cinema: With the governor shutting down movie theaters, online ticket purchases will be refunded automatically. If you have a physical ticket, take it in when theaters reopen for a readmit pass.
The Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids canceled Masses through May 28. Mass can still be streamed live online. Baptisms and weddings are being postponed. Call your church if you are expecting a death.
The Catholic Diocese of Kalamazoo is canceling all Masses for the time being.
Mackinac Bridge Authority: Will not be accepting cash payment starting on Saturday, March 21. Customers will need to pay with a credit or debit card or use a MacPass card or windshield sticker.
Meijer, SpartanNash and Walmart have all limited hours to help employees keep stores stocked and sanitized. Hours:
- Meijer: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- SpartanNash: 6 a.m. to midnight.
- Walmart: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Michigan Department of Corrections: All prisons are stopping in-person visiting of prisoners. It includes outside volunteers, tours and groups who come into the prisons.
Michigan High School Athletic Association: Official have canceled the rest of the winter and spring sports seasons.
Michigan Secretary of State: For three weeks, limiting operations at branch offices to only in-person critical services. Anyone who must complete a critical transaction must call ahead to make an appointment.
Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency: Offices are closed, except for those with an appointment. Instead, please apply online at Michigan.gov/UIA or by calling 866.500.0017.
PNC Bank: Branches will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday. Offering essential appointments, available on designated days of the week for safe deposit box access, loan closings or other banking services that can’t be delivered through the drive-up, telephone, ATM network or via mobile or online banking.
Special Olympics Michigan: Officials are suspending all sport, training and competition events through the end of the month. After March 31, they plan to reevaluate.
KENT COUNTY
Amway: The company is asking many employees to work from home. Manufacturing and distribution will still be operating.
Amway River Bank Run: The May 9 road race has been rescheduled for Oct. 24. Stay with the event’s website for updates.
Broadway Grand Rapids: March 13 and March 15 performances of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” postponed.
Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour: Will be rescheduled. John was supposed to be at Van Andel Arena on April 23.
Festival of the Arts: The festival in Grand Rapids that was supposed to be held June 5 through June 7 has been canceled for the first time in 50 years.
Fifth Third Bank Concerts series at Meijer Gardens: Canceled
First Church United Methodist in Grand Rapids: No worship services Sunday, March 15 or March 22.
Founders Brewing Co.: Closing all taprooms.
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park: Closing to the public until further notice.
Gazelle Girl: April 19 races in downtown Grand Rapids now a virtual event. Deferral to 20201 event available before March 16. Details online. March 22 course preview canceled.
Grand Rapids 61st District Court: Suspending operations except for arraignments of defendants in custody. arraignments of felonies and criminal offenses for individuals released from custody, probable cause conferences, scheduled preliminary examinations, trials for incarcerated people, sentencing for those who are incarcerated and other emergency hearings from March 18 to April 5. Court window services will be closed. The public is encouraged not to attend proceedings unless necessary.
Grand Rapids Asian-Pacific Festival: The event has been canceled, but organizers plan to bring festival back in 2021.
Grand Rapids Gilda’s Clubhouse: Suspending its normal program schedule and normal delivery method of support groups, workshops and dinner together.

Grand Rapids Art Museum: Closed until further notice. Public programming and private events canceled through May 31.
Grand Rapids Ballet: Suspending the rest of the performances of the 2019-20 season, including Christopher Stowell’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The organization is working to reschedule those. Spring Break for Kids: Little Red Riding Hood is being canceled and refunds are being issued. Grand Rapids Ballet School Junior Company’s Aladdin is being postponed. | Website
Grand Rapids Community College: Campus is closing; will continue classes online for the remainder of the semester. Officials making efforts to make sure students have access to technology, such as loaner laptops and boosted WiFi.
Grand Rapids Drive: The NBA G League has suspended the 2019-20 season.
Grand Rapids Griffins: Game play suspended; the entire AHL suspended the season.
Grand Rapids Home for Veterans: Closed to visitors. Plans being made to allow virtual visits.
Grand Rapids Police Department: Suspending front desk operations for preliminary breathalyzer tests, fingerprinting and live scan fingerprinting until further notice, affecting CPL permits and employment checks.
The department recommends reporting certain crimes like gas drive-offs and thefts online or over the phone. Violent crimes should be immediately reported to 911.
Police also people ask to limit visits to the department lobby, though officers will be releasing vehicles from impound, providing basic records checks and taking in-person reports. Officers ask folks with pending cases to call the detective handling the incident or the non-emergency number at 616.456.3400.
Officers will continue to answer calls, investigate crimes, arrest suspects and assist medical personnel.
Grand Rapids Public Library: All locations closed for the foreseeable future. Due dates extended and fines waived. Online services still available.
Grand Rapids Public Museum: Closed until further notice. Private events being evaluated on a case-by-case basis; must be under governor’s 250-person limit.
Grand Rapids Symphony: All concerts through early May canceled. Tickets that were already purchased are encouraged to be exchanged. You can do so by calling 616.454.9451.
Grand Rapids Tidal Waves: The women’s tackle football team announced they are postponing their 2020 season. The team’s first home game was scheduled for May 2.
Grand Rapids Triathlon: The event, which was scheduled to take place on June 14, has been postponed. Registered runners can take part in the Grand Rapids VIRTUAL Triathlon 9.5. More information on the virtual option can be found online.
Grandville Fourth of July Celebration: Canceled.
Grand Valley State University events: Several larger events at GVSU are canceled, including the West Michigan Healthcare Ethics Conference and the DeVos Medical Ethics Colloquy, the Michigan Humanities’ Great Michigan Read with Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha and the Region 12 Science Olympiad Tournament. Irish Jig: Spectrum Health’s Irish Jig 5K Run on March 21 has been canceled. To find more information on Spectrum Health’s event cancellations, visit its website.
Irish on Ionia: Event organizers say the event has been postponed to ensure the safety of staff and guests. The street festival has been postponed until late summer. John Ball Zoo: Closed until further notice.
Kent County 17th Circuit Court: Postponing jury trials indefinitely. No in-person access to records until further notice; call or email for assistance
For non-essential hearings: the court may issue an order based on the pleadings, adjourn the hearing or hold the hearing over the phone. Essential hearings will be held through a video feed or over the phone. Staff will contact anyone with a hearing scheduled to provide instruction on how it will proceed.
Pleadings must be mailed with a check and ex-parte pleadings may be emailed to ccclerksexparte@kentcountymi.qov. Restitution payments must be paid online and certified court records are available online.
Kent County 63rd District Court: All but essential matters, including misdemeanor, traffic, civil infractions, ordinance violation and landlord-tenant disputes, cases, adjourned. No in-person assistance at the front counter. No one showing symptoms, expose to someone sick, or who recently traveled by air in the last two weeks allowed at court. Kent County Clerk: In-person transactions suspended until further notice. Online, phone or mail service only.
Kent District Library is closed to the public. Programs, outreach visits, bookmobile visits and book sales are canceled. Online options are still available.
Kent County Correctional Facility: Screening everyone entering the jail; encouraging online visitation; being extra cautious with disinfecting.
Kent County Probate Court: Will only accept emergency filings and will only conduct emergency hearings from March 17 to April 13. All hearings scheduled during this period will be adjourned to a date after June 1, except for developmentally disabled guardianship hearings scheduled on March 18 and any currently scheduled emergency hearing.
Petitions and documents for emergency matters must be filed online, put in a drop box outside the entrance to the second-floor clerk’s office or mailed.
Emergency filings that will be accepted include mental health pick-up/transport orders other mental health petitions for things like hospitalization, guardianships involving life-threatening medical emergencies, conservatorships with immediate pending evictions/foreclosures/shut off notices, petitions for the sale of real property, estates where immediate access to residence is necessary, petitions for immediate funeral/burial arrangements, requests for ex parte temporary restraining orders and emergency petitions filed by Adult Protective Services.
Kent County Treasurer’s Office: Closed to the public until further notice. Taxpayers are encouraged to mail check and money order payments to Kent County Treasurer, P.O. Box Y, Grand Rapids, MI 49501.
LaughFest: Organizers canceled and postponed events scheduled through Sunday, May 15.
Mary Free Bed is not allowing visitors on its 5th-floor Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Program area. Adult inpatients are allowed to have one visitor who will help them after they are released from the hospital. Children or those on ventilators may have two visitors. For outpatient appointments, call ahead before your visit if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19 or have traveled internationally recently. No child visitors are permitted at this time.
Mel Trotter Ministries is taking extra precautions, including limiting or canceling volunteer opportunities, mission tours and donation drop-offs until April 30.
Michigan Environmental Hall of Fame: The induction ceremony for the Michigan Environmental Hall of Fame scheduled for May 20 has been postponed until Oct. 20 at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.
Monster Jam Triple Threat Series: Postponed. Was scheduled for March 20-22 at Van Andel Arena.
National Weather Service of Grand Rapids: All Spotter Training Sessions during March are canceled.
Opera Grand Rapids: Providing virtual-only screening of “Scalia/Ginsburg” for ticket holders.
Reba McEntire concert: The concert in Grand Rapids has been rescheduled for Aug. 6. Ticket purchases will be honored for all tour dates. More information can be found on her website.
Sheldon Cleaners: Location at 1405 Lake Drive temporarily closed. Pickups can be scheduled by calling 616.427.5669 and orders can also be dropped off at the 2150 Wealthy Street location.
Spectrum Health: Canceling all nonemergency appointments, surgeries and procedures through March 27. If you have something scheduled, Spectrum will be in touch about next steps. Call your doctor’s office with questions.
St. Cecilia Music Center has canceled all education programs and March concerts. Rehearsals resume April 13.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Grand Rapids: Organizers decided to cancel this year’s parade.
Tanger Outlets: Closed until further notice.
Ultimate Sport Show – Grand Rapids: March 19-22 event postponed.
The Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts (UICA) in downtown Grand Rapids is closing through March 31. The Fed Galleries exhibition at Kendall College of Art & Design is also closed through March 31. The UICA is owned by Kendall, which is part of Ferris State University, which has moved to online-only instruction because of coronavirus.
Van Andel Arena, DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall: Several events are being postponed or canceled. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at the new dates. Contact the venues for more details.
West Michigan Whitecaps: Minor league baseball will delay the start of its 2020 Championship Season. Additional information will be released at a later date. The Whitecaps are unsure when its opening day will be.
Wyoming Senior Center: Closing and canceling all programming until April 6.
KALAMAZOO AND BATTLE CREEK AREAS
City of Albion: All nonessential city operations canceled. City Hall closed at least through April 30. Moratorium on water shutoffs and service restored for delinquent accounts.
Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival: Event scheduled for July 1 through July 5 canceled.
Battle Creek Rumble Bees hockey team: Season suspended; entire FPHL league suspended.
Battle Creek VA Medical Center: Not seeing patients in person at Battle Creek, Benton Harbor, Lansing or Muskegon clinics. Virtual care available; call 888.214.1247. Tele-town hall scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday; call 855.274.1447.
Calhoun County: Offices closed to the public.

International Congress on Medieval Studies: The 55th International Congress on Medieval Studies from May 7 to May 10 has been canceled.

Kalamazoo Ribfest 2020: The event, scheduled for July 30 to Aug. 1, was cancelled.
Kalamazoo Pride 2020: OutFront Kalamazoo announced the event scheduled for June 5 through June 6 has been canceled.
Kalamazoo County Youth Fair: The fair, originally scheduled for Aug. 11 to Aug. 15, has been canceled.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety: Facilities temporarily closed, including headquarters that normally takes walk-ins. Reminding residents that crimes may be reported online.
Kalamazoo Farmers Market: The opening day has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 6. Officials say this is a tentative plan and may change.

Kalamazoo Pride: The event, originally scheduled for June 5 and 6, will be rescheduled for later this year.

Kalamazoo Wings: The ECHL has canceled its 2019-2020 season, so K-Wings games have been canceled.
Kellogg Bird Sanctuary: Public events have been postponed until April 20. The sanctuary grounds and resource center will stay open during normal business hours.
Kellogg Community College: The college’s facility will remain closed through April 5 and reopen facilities to employees on Monday, April 6.
Oberon Release Day: Bell’s Brewery has decided to cancel Oberon Release Day at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo on March 23. Distributors and partners began selling the craft brew when they receive it instead of waiting for launch day.
Schoolcraft’s Fourth of July celebration: The event is canceled, including the parade, car show and fireworks and any other associated activities.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Kalamazoo: The parade committee has decided to cancel this year’s parade. Additionally, Kalamazoo police are advising people to avoid large St. Patrick’s Day gatherings.
Kellogg’s Company: Managers have restricted all travel from, to or through countries on the Centers for Disease Control Travel Health Notice list. Other travel is being limited to critical business needs.
Miller Auditorium: Blue Man Group rescheduled for Jan. 8 through Jan. 10, 2021. CATS canceled; tickets to be refunded automatically.
National Collegiate Hockey Conference: The quarterfinal game at Western Michigan University’s Lawson Arena will be closed to the public. The game will be streamed online for free.
City of Portage: City facilities closed to public until further notice.
Portage District Library: Closed until further notice.
Portage Senior Center: Closed and all events canceled until further notice.
Stryker: Managers are restricting travel to critical needs only. Employees approved to travel must follow the guidance given for those areas. Many employees are being asked to work from home.

Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp: The camp board has canceled its 2020 summer season.
City of Muskegon Heights: Residents urged to conduct business via internet, phone or mail. Muskegon Heights Branch of Muskegon Area District Library closed. Residents who are sick or may have been exposed asked not to attend city council meetings. Out-of-county training events suspended.
The Dan Raymond Invitational Indoor Motorcycle Ice Races, which were scheduled for March 20, have been canceled. Ticket refund information will be posted online.

Muskegon County is closing all its offices. The county has activated its emergency operation plan, which provides joint planning, responses and aligns resourcing accordingly with a wide range of community partners.
Muskegon County Jail: All non-essential visits at the jail will be on hold until further notice. Inmates will be allowed to receive one free internet visit per week.
Muskegon Lumberjacks: Game play suspended; the entire USHL suspended the season.
Parties in the Park: The season has been canceled with the expectation that it will return in 2021.
OTTAWA COUNTY
City of Holland: All Holland Recreation events are canceled until further notice.
Holland Home: Instituting restrictions on visiting including on anyone with symptoms of illness or who has have traveled internationally within two weeks.
MAX Transit: All bus routes suspended until further notice. Reserve-A-Max reservation only on the day before your trip. MAX Depot office closed to the public; lobby open.
Ottawa County: Sign up online to volunteer or donate to help those in need amid widespread coronavirus shutdowns.
Ottawa County Road Commission: Administrative office closed to public.
Spring Lake District Library: Closed until further notice.
Tulip Time: Canceled. The event was scheduled for May 2 through May 10.
Tulip Time Run: It’s canceled, but organizers are offering a virtual run from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 10. More information can be found online.
OTHER COUNTIES
Allegan County: Limiting visitors to county facilities, including asking people to postpone nonessential visits. Youth Home, Medical Care Community and Central Dispatch buildings closed to visitors. Animal shelter is by appointment only.
Allegan County Campgrounds: The campgrounds, including swimming pools, are closed until April 13, expect for those who claim the address as their residence.
Barry County Sheriff’s Office: The sheriff’s office suspended the following functions: daily preliminary breath testing, weekend urine screening, inmate visits with the public, all fingerprinting services and sex offender registrations.
Big Rapids City Hall: Closed through May 15. Trash and recycle services continuing. Questions can be directed to 231.250.8177.
Big Rapids Community Library: Closed to the public until further notice. Online resources still available.
Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce: Closed until at least May 28. Email info@coldwaterchamber.com or call 517.278.5985 if you need immediate assistance.
Coldwater Great Hospice Duck Race: Event on June 6, 2020 has been canceled. Donations still being accepted. No plans for a 2020 reschedule date.
Dowagiac Summer Concert Series: Canceled
Ferris State University: Classes will continue remote instruction through June 1. All of the residence halls, apartments and East Campus Suites are closed. If you have any questions, you are asked to call 231.591.3745 or email housing@ferris.edu.
If you are an international student or someone with highly exceptional housing needs, you’re asked to complete the “Request to Remain On-Campus” form located online in the MyHousing portal under the contracts tab. If you are a family living in University apartments you will not have to move.
Gun Lake Casino: Closed until further notice. All casino events, including promotions, are canceled. All employees will be fully compensated on a paid on-leave status.

St. Joseph Memorial Day Parade: The event, scheduled for Friday, May 22, is canceled.
St. Joseph Township: Township hall closed to the public through May 28. Drop box in front of hall available. Online applications for various permits.
St. Joseph County Jail: All non-essential visits at the jail will be on hold until further notice.
Sparrow Ionia Hospital: Using a single entrance for all hospital business. Front entrance closed. Please enter through ER entrance.
