YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – WKBN 27 First News has been awarded a regional Murrow Award.

Presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association, the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award honors achievements in broadcast and digital journalism.

The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.

Our 6 p.m. news received an award for the best newscast in the region during our coverage of the end of production at General Motors’ Lordstown Complex.

WKBN was competing against stations in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. 

Regional winners move on to the national competition. The national awards will be presented in New York on October 14.
