LEE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL)- Months after Ballad Health officials revealed plans to reopen Lee County’s hospital, we’re now learning a sign has been posted indicating those plans are still in place.

Officials with the Lee County Rescue Squad posted a photo that reads Ballad Health ‘Future Home of the new Lee County Community Hospital’

In January, Ballad Health CEO Alan Levine said the hospital in Lee County will be similar to the Unicoi County Hospital, which opened in October 2018.

Ballad issued this statement regarding the hospital:

Just a little over 90 days ago, Ballad Health began working with the Lee County Hospital Authority to reopen Lee County Community Hospital. There is much work to do before the hospital can be reopened, but we have begun working in earnest on licensure and certification, service line planning, construction assessment and planning, physician and team member recruitment, finance planning, telemedicine resources and more. We are excited to be working toward our ultimate goal: reopening a hospital in Lee County.
