City leaders approved a $2 million bid Tuesday to expand the city’s aquatic center.
The Board of Mayor and Alderman unanimously agreed to shell out $2,054,600 for a new outdoor pool, shaded pavilion, walk-in freezer, and additional restrooms.
BurWil Construction Company, which submitted the lowest of five bids, will build the new pool and other facilities.
The new outdoor pool will be 2700 square feet in size, four to five feet deep, and will fit 180 people. It will also be heated and will have three 25 yard lap lanes.
In a Facebook post, City Manager Jeff Flemming said the pool will be located at the front of the aquatic center, “somewhat secluded from the hustle of bustle of the water park…”.
According to Flemming, construction will begin soon and is expected to be complete in 2020.
