The Center for Ethics at Emory University has a unique program that focuses on the intersection of arts and ethics.
The program was founded by the director for the Center for Ethics, Paul Root Wolpe, and Emory professor Carlton Mackey. It is multifaceted, but one major component is a class thought up by Mackey — “Art and Social Engagement.”
The class teams up artists and students and tasks them with creating an original work of art for an Atlanta not-for-profit.
The program also offers a competitive fellowship for artists and faculty, where both work collaboratively to create an original class for students pertaining to arts and ethics.
Wolpe and Mackey joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk about the fellowship and the arts and ethics program.
