What to bring

Each residence hall room on campus comes furnished with the following items.

  • Bed (visit the Bunking and Lofting page for more information)
  • Mattress (extra-long twin 36”x80”)
  • Desk and chair
  • Dresser
  • Wardrobe closet
  • High speed wireless internet connection
  • Trash can

Washers and dryers are available in each residence hall at no additional cost.

Suggestions of things to bring

TIP: Talk with your roommate about to avoid bringing duplicates.

Bed & Bath

  • Bed sheets extra long twin – 36”x80”
  • Blankets
  • Pillows/pillow cases
  • Mattress pad
  • Towels/Washcloths
  • Shower shoes/Flip-flops
  • Shower Tote/Caddy
  • Soap, Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Other Personal Toiletries
  • Please note that shower curtains ARE provided

Cooking/Kitchen Supplies

  • A few non-perishable food items
  • Can-opener
  • Cookware, utensils, dishes, napkins, food storage containers
  • Small microwave (800 watts or less)*
  • Small refrigerator (5.5 cubic feet or less and an amperage draw of no more than 1.5)

Clothing & Laundry

  • Clothes basket/hamper
  • Clothes hangers
  • Umbrella/rain gear
  • Detergent and fabric softener
  • Season-appropriate clothing (due to space)
  • Iron and small ironing board
  • Sewing kit

Personal Items

  • Cloth facial covering/mask (we recommend a minimum of 3 so you can rotate daily and keep them washed)
  • Thermometer
  • Backpack/messenger bag
  • Calculator
  • Clothes for the season
  • Personal medications
  • School supplies (notebooks, binders, pens, pencils, highlighters, stapler, tape, etc.)
  • Umbrella
  • Important Documents
    • Student ID (if you have received it)
    • Health insurance card
    • Original IDs are required for on-campus student employment positions (see acceptable documents)

Electronics and Hardware

Power strips, extension cords and other electronics must be approved by a third-party testing laboratory (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) and bear that laboratory’s (NRTL) certification mark. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) and Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc. (ITSNA) are just two common examples - see the link for the full list.

Cleaning Supplies

  • Disinfectant wipes and/or spray
  • Dish soap
  • Fabric softener/dryer sheets
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Paper towels
  • Small ironing board/iron with an automatic shutoff*
  • Laundry basket & clothes detergent

In addition, if you live in Exchange Street Residence Hall, the Honors Complex, Quaker Square Residence Hall, South Residence Hall, or Spicer Residence Hall, the following are recommended:

  • Toilet bowl cleaner
  • Toilet scrub brush
  • Shower/soap scum cleaner
  • Scrubbing pad or brushes
  • Spray glass cleaner
  • Rag

Miscellaneous

  • 3-M hooks (that do not damage walls when removed)
  • First Aid Kit (Band-aid, antibiotic ointment)
  • Hangers
  • Stacking shelves/storage containers
  • Small tool kit
  • Collapsible camp chair (for an extra seat in your room, or for use outside)
