Also, we will be sharing some valuable resources, including required videos and PowerPoint presentations and discussions with many resources provided by the Online Common Sense Media organization. Several student assistants and the Media Tech Center staff will make the presentations. These presentations are to provide more information to assist students, parents and staff as they work together to utilize the Internet for positive, productive and responsible reasons as digitally literate consumers. The students need to know how to select valid and professional web sites to use for their research skills in high school, in college and in their personal/professional lives. This is valuable information to assist our students to become college and career ready. Also, the ethical uses of Online information will be discussed with examples.
The previous school year was the first year for the RHS students and staff to have access to the Surface 3 tablets and an introductory workshop was held the evening before the students and staff received their devices. This year we plan to have two 90-minute workshops that will include time devoted to updates from student assistants, PowerPoint presentations and videos featured by the student assistants and METI along with further discussions.
If you cannot attend the Digital Citizenship Workshop, please feel free to explore many valuable resources, including videos at the Common Sense Media web site.

Some of the topics for discussion and required by FCS and RHS are:
A. Digital Footprints
B. Internet Safety
C. Cyberbullying and Digital Drama
D. Online Relationships
E. Privacy and Security
F. Self-image and Identity
Now that the students and staff have been using the Surface 3 tablets and accessories for more than 1.5 years, we are hopeful that the updates by the student assistants and Media Tech Center staff will be valuable suggestions for the responsible use of Online resources and to help our great RHS students to become college and career ready.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact the METI @ RHS:
