Currently an Assistant Professor of History at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Shae Smith Cox earned her Ph.D. in American History at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in May 2020 with a minor in Public History. She studies 19th century race and gender with an emphasis on material culture and memory of the U.S. Civil War and Reconstruction. Shae is working on her manuscript “The Fabric of Civil War Society: Uniforms, Badges, and Flags, 1859-1939,” which is under contract with LSU Press and scheduled for publication February 2024.
