Students will study the art of composing in real time with NEA Jazz Master Roscoe Mitchell. Utilizing a series of exercises designed to create balance and cohesion within any given ensemble, Mr. Mitchell will share his concept of the “scored improvisation,” enabling all participants to create compositions within a collective improvisational approach. Open to all instrumentalists and vocalists, this very special masterclass will shed light on ways to develop compositional as well as improvisational skills within a group dynamic.
Master Class is 1:00–2:30 PM
Observation welcome with advance reservation; space is limited
