Marv Hodges, left, senior pastor of Bridging the Gap Ministries, and Tom Bloom, lead pastor of Community Vineyard Church, will speak Sunday on the topic of racism.

“Racism: What Is It, Where Does It Come From,” What Is The Solution?” will be the sermon topic at Community Vineyard Church at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Tom Bloom, lead pastor of Community Vineyard Church, and Marv Hodges, senior pastor of Bridging the Gap Ministries, will speak.

Community Vineyard Church will reopen its doors on Sunday, with safety precautions in place, after two months of live stream services.

“During our first Sunday back in church, I would have loved to have a celebration of our re-opening, but that would be inappropriate while our cities are burning,” Bloom said.

“People are looking for answers and we want to answer those questions,” he added.

The mission of Bridging the Gap ministry is to bridge the gap between God and man, races, genders, socioeconomic differences, cultures and families. During the past several years, Hodges has participated in the Black History Month commemorations at Community Vineyard Church.

“Regarding mankind — all we have is the human race, which means we ought to embrace our differences,” he said. “It is not good enough to know someone who looks different than ourselves. It is more important to be in relationship with them.”

The worship service at Community Vineyard Church is from 10:30 a.m. noon. The church is located at 2543 State Road, Cuyahoga Falls. The service will also be live streamed and can be seen and heard at communityvineyard.org/stream.
