’You dyed my dog’s hair?’ Woman irate with Lake Worth Beach dog groomer

Lola went in for a trim and came out with neon eyebrows and pink ears.

LAKE WORTH BEACH -- Graziella Puleo handed over Lola, her Goldendoodle, for a buzz cut, nail trim and teeth cleaning.

But when she picked the Golden Retriever-Poodle crossbreed up at Amore's Pet Salon Dog Grooming Day Care Boarding Spa nine hours later, Puleo was shocked.

Never mind she says that the teeth still weren’t clean, the pup’s eyebrows and tail had been shaved and dyed neon green, and her ears were neon pink. Her underside also was pink, not from dye but from what appeared to be an infection from having been shaved.

“I almost cried,” said Puleo, who was new to Lake Worth Beach. She had contacted the shop at 805 Lake Ave. after seeing Amore’s positive reviews online. (The shop is not affiliated with Amore Pet Grooming of Miami.)

Puleo ended up taking Lola to a vet to treat the infection.

Amore Spa owner Raquel Adams returned Puleo’s $150, offered another complimentary grooming and was apologetic about the unrequested dye job.

The teeth weren’t clean because Lola didn’t like it and they didn’t want to force it, Adams said.

“The young lady, she’s very sweet. We wanted to make her happy,” Adams said Monday. “We beautify the dog…. If we see it’s missing something, we do color, sometimes, the dog.”

“We did wrong about the color. We should have offered her first,” she said, adding that the dyed areas could be trimmed with a scissors.

As for Lola’s belly, “She’s infected because she’s licking and doesn’t give it a chance to heal.”

Puleo, who has been scrubbing Lola to get the dye out, said she doesn’t plan to return for the complimentary services.

“I was like, ’You dyed my dog’s hair?’

“’Yes,’ Adams told her. ’You said you wanted a buzz cut, so I felt there was something missing.’

“I noticed they’d shaved her eyebrows off and tried to fix the mistake by drawing green eyebrows on her,” Puleo told The Palm Beach Post. “She looks like you painted on her and were trying to turn her into a clown.”
