Biography
James is my given name, but most folks call me Jay. I grew up in Long Island, New York which is where many of my ancestors call home. Most have been in the NYC metro area for approximately 150+ years but I’m still trying to pinpoint when all the branches arrived. I am an avid genealogist who has amassed a family tree with about 2000 members going back to the early 1800s.
I went to Moravian College where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. Being 1 of 10 students selected in each class who could customize the concentrations that made up my degree (wow, was I lucky!), I focused on English (Writing & Literature) for my major but added in several minors for Education, Business, Communications and Spanish.
One of my passions is creative writing. At different periods in my life, usually defined by how busy work or school kept me, I’ve written short stories, novels and poetry. Most of my work revolves around family dynamics and falls into general, mystery or historical fiction. For me, it starts with an amazing plot or a dynamic character, and then just takes off… you can find more about it here.
I live on the East Side in NYC but love the West Coast just as much. The world has so many beautiful places that I want to live in and experience. It’s a good thing there’s plenty of time left to make that happen
