Police investigating triple homicide in Flint

FLINT, MI -- Three people were shot and killed Friday evening in Flint, police said.

Flint police were dispatched shortly before 6:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 to the 1500 block of Illinois Avenue, between Olive and Iowa avenues, for a report of a possible shooting.

Flint Police Detective Sgt. Tyrone Booth said patrol operations responded and found three victims who were later pronounced dead at the scene.

They’d all suffered gunshot wounds. The victim’s names and ages have not been released by police.

“It’s an ongoing investigation. We’re trying to put things together,” said Booth of the incident, with no suspect information being released at this time. “We’re working leads. We don’t want anything to mess with the investigation.”

Troopers with Michigan State Police and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab out of Bridgeport are assisting Flint police on the scene.

Illinois Avenue was closed between Iowa and Olive avenues as police investigated. Dozens of people stood behind yellow police tape seeking information about what’d taken place.
