Manchin Submits Over 1,500 Speed Tests To FCC Chairman Pai

Charleston, WV – Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced he has submitted over 1,500 broadband speed tests to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) proving the FCC’s broadband coverage maps are wrong and must be fixed before billions in one-time federal funding is spent.

“In June, I challenged West Virginians to join me in sending 2,000 speed tests to FCC Chairman Pai by the end of the year to prove their broadband coverage maps are just plain wrong. We have now sent the FCC over 1,500 speed tests that show plainly the FCC maps don’t accurately represent broadband coverage in West Virginia. This is a testament to West Virginians’ efforts to get better broadband for themselves, their family, friends, and neighbors in West Virginia, but this fight is far from over. I will keep submitting speed tests to the FCC urging them to create a user-friendly public feedback system just like they are required to do under law, and to fix their coverage maps before billions more federal dollars are sent out the door. In order to do this, I need West Virginians to please help me fight for better broadband for the Mountain State by submitting a speed test at https://www.manchin.senate.gov/speedtest.”
