The Rutland County Solid Waste District is a union municipal district formed in 1979 for the purpose of providing solid waste disposal services. Our Vermont member towns are Brandon, Castleton, Clarendon, Danby, Hubbardton, Ira, Killington, Mendon, Mount Tabor, Mt. Holly, Pittsford, Pittsfield, Poultney, Proctor, Rutland City, Wallingford, Wells and West Rutland. REGIONAL TRANSFER STATION We manage the Regional Transfer Station at 14 Gleason Road in Rutland, Vermont. Our disposal programs include household recycling, food scrap composting, scrap metal, hazardous waste, electronics, leaf & yard debris and general municipal solid waste among others. EDUCATION AND OUTREACH Do you want to improve your waste diversion practices? We give tours of our transfer and recycling facilities, presentations to interested groups, and technical assistance to businesses and residents for implementing projects. SOLID WASTE PLANNING AND PERMITTING Are you a municipality, hauler or business managing commercial amounts of recycling, food scraps or hazardous wastes? State and federal regulations require intense navigation to ensure you are in compliance. We take care of the permitting, tracking and reporting for our members.
