KVC WARMING STATION
For the past three years, the Kanawha Valley Collective, United Way of Central WV and the City of Charleston have run a temporary warming stations/shelters for the homeless living on the street, and those living with inadequate heating in Kanawha County.
The ultimate goal of the warming stations are to keep our fellow human beings warm, safe, fed and alive during freezing, inclement weather. The warming stations are located in Charleston at the First Presbyterian Church, and at the Salvation Army.

In 2020, Cabin Creek Health Systems began offering free medical care at the warming station.

Our warming station opens as soon as the weather is predicted to drop to 15 degrees Fahrenheit with windchill. The warming station is open 9pm-7am. Join our Facebook group or follow us on twitter to find specific dates.

The warming station is staffed by KVC agency partners, volunteers, and two paramedics and two police officers. Training is provided for volunteers.

Charleston Warming Station
All homeless persons living on the street and those living with inadequate heating are welcome at the warming station, regardless of whether or not they've been expelled from the other four shelters in Kanawha County. The warming station opens once the weather is predicted to drop to 15 degrees Fahrenheit with windchill.
