Gun violence, mental health and the role of healthcare

July 30, 2020
Webinar

2 - 3 p.m.

Someone is killed with a gun every 10 hours in New York. Whether the result of suicide, domestic violence, gang related violence, school shootings, or another tragedy, exposure to gun violence causes lasting trauma to families and young people. It affects all New Yorkers.

The relationship between gun violence and mental health is complicated and often misunderstood. During this program, New York state health system psychologists will discuss the intersection between mental health and gun violence, including its connection to suicide, and considerations for the healthcare community when addressing these issues.

Presenters:

James B. Anderson, PhD, LCHP Medical Director, Licensed Psychologist, Primary Care Service Line, Bassett Healthcare Network

Nomi-Kaie Bennett, Ph.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Bassett Healthcare Network, Cobleskill Primary Care
