    What is the Teacher's Supply Closet?

    The Teacher's Supply Closet is a clearinghouse for accepting and distributing donated school supplies and other essentials for students and teachers. Supplies range from notebooks, pens, pencils and glue sticks to classroom decorations and books.

    There's also a poster maker, laminator, copier and collection of die cuts ready for teachers to use. While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, please email requests for posters and laminating services to supplies@greenvilleisd.com. 

    Where is it located?

    The Teacher's Supply Closet is located in the Houston Education Center, 3923 Henry St. Greenville, TX 75401

    How does it work?

    It's sort of like Amazon, but free!

    • An updated inventory is posted below.
    • When teachers need supplies, they check the inventory to see if what they need is in stock.
    • Requests for supplies are sent to supplies@greenvilleisd.com
    • If something is needed and it isn't in stock, send an email, and we'll ask around for a donation.

    Superstar volunteers Jan Teeters and Renda Loftin have generously volunteered their time and skills to run the Teacher Supply Closet, which is located at the PRIDE Center in the Houston Education Center. They keep a meticulous inventory and records of requests and orders fulfilled. These ladies love giving back to their colleagues. 

    "When I was a teacher, there was no place like this to go for free supplies, so just like every other teacher, I ended up paying for a lot of things out of my pocket," Jan said. "I love GISD. It has my heart, and it always will. I can't just walk away from something I love."
     
    The Supply Closet also has backpacks, winter coats and other necessities for students. Just make a GISD employee aware of the need, and we'll make sure the child is taken care of.
