Monica's Road to Recovery

Hi everyone. As many of you know on October 22nd Monica was the victim of a drunk driving accident, while walking near her home in Champaign. She was struck while crossing the street and has been hospitalized with serious injuries ever since.  We are still unsure of the long term effects of this horrible accident but do know that she will have a long road to recovery once she is able to return home . It is our prayer and sincere hope that she will be able to make a full recovery, however at this point, there is a lot of uncertainty. The accident left her with some severe damage to her back, lungs and internal organs.  While we know Monica is a fighter and will be make it through this hard time, it has taken her away from her job as an LPN and delayed her December graduation as an RN. Monica was a dedicated nurse  who has spent the last 8 months working the front-lines with her fellow healthcare workers to ensure her patients were both cared for and supported during these difficult times. Monica has worked so hard for her education and career and is now unable to do anything to contribute to her household and beloved son.  In addition, her sister Mula, who is a mother a three and now caregiver for her nephew, has been taken away from her jobs to make daily trips to Champaign to be by her sister side, to speak on her behalf and provide support.                                                               
      This tragedy was an avoidable accident and Monica, through no fault of her own, will now be faced with the consequences of someones elses' reckless actions.  We are asking for donations to go towards bills, medical needs, household needs, once she is able to return home and contributions to Mula to make up for lost wages and trips to and from the hospital.  Anything anyone can contribute is truly appreciated and will help to make this uncertain time a little easier for Monica and her family.
