Funeral Expenses for Audrey

My mother passed away at 3:25 AM on October 18th, 2020 due to underlying conditions exacerbated by the pandemic. She was the last of 5 having watched the funeral of her last surviving sibling, Carl Payton, just last Tuesday.  She got her positive test result on October 13th and was transported to the hospital around midnight on the 14th unable to breathe because her lung was filling with fluid. By October 18th at 1AM she was on a ventilator on Life Support. Alone.

I spoke to our family funeral home director Deanna, and she said I should do this. I really hate asking for money. Mom worked her whole life. She had a life insurance policy she paid on for 20 years but she had to cash it out for less than 10% of what it was worth to be able to get into a nursing facility to be taken care of. I tried to take care of her.  Dialysis 3 times a week, Dr. appointments, food, and falling. A lot of falling towards the end of her being at home. It got undignified for her as we would have to call the fire department to pick her up off the floor because I could no longer do it.

For my entire life except for a brief time, it was mom and me.  I even slept in the same bed as her until I was 12. We were best friends. We did everything together. My mom is the only person on the planet that would love me no matter what. She loved her grandchildren so much. She helped me raise them. We are all very close.  And the best thing I can do for her to honor her is to send her off decently.

The funds will be used to pay for her funeral service and the costs associated with that and to pay off any outstanding debt in her name. I would also use some of the funds to get Jessica my oldest here to the service, she lives out of state. I realize these are hard times for everyone and we appreciate any help given.

She is going to be released to Cedar Crest Memorial as soon as the hospital calls me. So as soon as I get enough I will be able to plan a date for the visitation and service.
