HOUSTON'S MOST DANGEROUS ROADS
This is an unfortunate fact that we are very familiar with, as Houston is home to our firm's main office - we passionately represent families and victims of motor vehicle accidents across the city and beyond. We hope to do our part in the Texas Department of Transportation's annual campaign and help #EndTheStreakTX.
Our clients are our top priority - as such, we created this map in the interest of the people of Houston, to increase awareness of traffic accident volume and encourage road safety. Our National Managing Partner, Derek H. Potts, wanted to make this resource available "to hopefully make drivers more vigilant, particularly on the most dangerous roads, and hopefully save some lives."

About the Map
This map is made up of data from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), which has been analyzed by our team and applied using Google Maps and Leaflet. We recently updated the map to include available data through April 2020 with the goal of continually updating this map for the people of Houston to refer to.

Did you know that November 7th, 2000 was the last deathless day on Texas roadways?
In 2018, there were 64,126 crashes total in Houston.
In 2018, 398 people were killed in crashes in Texas. 197 of those fatalities were in Houston alone.
In 2018, more DUI - Alcohol crashes were reported in the hour between 2:00 am and 2:59 am than any other hour of the day in Texas.
COVID-19 Update
Even with millions of people at home and off of the roads in the midst of the current pandemic, the streak has still not ended. We are still seeing hundreds of crashes on state roads. According to TxDOT, fatalities are down 21 percent from where they were around this time last year, but this number is still not as low as one would hope and expect at a time when the number of people on the roads has drastically decreased.
In the words of Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, “less traffic doesn’t mean safer drivers are out..." This is sadly true, with road fatalities in Harris County lower than they were in March of 2019, but still higher than the same month in 2018.
The importance of road safety cannot be overstated. We join the movement in urging drivers to do their part in making our roads a safer place to be, and in the meantime, are here to help while they are not.
