For someone who has literally every fashion/beauty/culinary resource at her disposal, Meghan Markle keeps her life shockingly low-key. In a new cover story for People, some of Meghan's closest friends open up about her lifestyle.
“There’s a false assumption that she lives in some gilded palace with staff and ladies-in-waiting and all these royal perks,” a friend told People. “It’s simply not true.”
Here's the deal. Meghan does her own hair and makeup, she styles and dresses herself, and she cooks every day for herself and Prince Harry. Their Nottingham Cottage home is cozy, and there aren't tons of people running around like you'd expect.
Another friend described a moment with Meghan recently where she realized that she was basically doing all of this stuff on her own.
“I was with her last month, and she was going on a public engagement. Harry and I were sitting with the dogs, and we were all chatty, and she’s painting her nails,” the friend said. “Except for her wedding, she does all her own makeup. Dresses herself, styles herself.”
She told Meghan she felt like the public perception of her is so different than the reality. People think she has an army of staff helping her at all times.
"I said, ‘People think when you come out of the car that you went through some metaphorical reverse car wash. Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo, and everyone’s doing all this stuff to you. They’re not picturing you sitting by the space heater doing your own hair and nails. She’s very self-service," she said.
Damn. Meghan just out-relatable'd herself. First avocado toast and now this? Incredible.
