Congregations Acting for Justice and Empowerment (C.A.J.E.)

Central Church is a charter member of Congregations Acting for Justice and Empowerment. Formed in 2003, CAJE (pronounced “cage”) is a community organization that works on local issues. Like many churches, Central offers help to meet individual needs. However, some issues require broader, community-wide changes to make lasting improvements. CAJE brings together many faith communities in the Evansville area. By listening to members and local residents and other organizations, they select a few critical issues. After exploring possible solutions, CAJE works with public officials to act create plans for improvments. For more information check out their Facebook page.

Loaves and Fishes

The Loaves and Fishes Fund of Central UMC is a way we help people with basic physical needs. For example, this fund is often used toward utility or rent bills when paying those bills becomes impossible. Initially, people seeking assistance should talk to Outreach Ministries. Outreach Ministries assesses a person’s needs. With their knowledge of community resources, along with their own funds, they connect individuals with the most appropriate agencies. Our fund is only one of those options. As a result, we prioritize helping people living in our local area. Call the church office with questions or requests.
