Dr. Brandon Hedgecock

Dr. Brandon Hedgecock received his dental degree from UTHSC San Antonio after graduating from the University of Texas. He is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM) and a Diplomate of American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. He has also achieved Diplomate Status with the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.

From its very beginning, Dr. Hedgecock has been with Sleep Better Austin and has watched our dental team work and grow to ensure the success of our practice. Both he and Dr. Kerr have had family members diagnosed with sleep apnea, inspiring them to become sleep dentists. Together, they hope to use state-of-the-art technology and techniques to give their patients a better night’s rest.

Dr. Hedgecock loves living in Austin, and enjoys the live music and concerts in the area. He has two children at home—one boy and one girl. Both keep him busy playing Legos, Harry Potter, Barbies, and letting them have their pick of movies. At the University of Texas, Dr. Hedgecock was a 4-year member of Longhorn Football team. Today he keeps active playing golf and snowboarding when he gets the chance.

Dr. Max Kerr

Dr. Max Kerr is from Amarillo, Texas. After receiving his undergraduate degree at Texas Tech University, Dr. Kerr received his General Dentistry Degree in 2007. He then spent five years providing dental care for underserved children in San Antonio and Roswell, New Mexico. In May 2013, he took a break from working in the corporate dental world, where he felt patients were treated more like numbers than people. He opened Vista Ridge Family Dentistry with the goal of creating strong relationships with his patients and the community.

Dr. Kerr is an active member of the American Dental Association and is passionate about continuing education. Through his studies, Dr. Kerr learned the correlation between tooth damage and sleep apnea. In his own life, sleep apnea has hit very close to home as both his mother-in-law and grandfather suffered severe strokes caused by their sleep apnea. To prevent this from occurring in his own patients, Dr. Kerr began his extensive training with dental sleep medicine. Dr. Kerr is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine®, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines. Dr. Kerr is also board certified in dental sleep medicine with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. He is committed to treating his patients with the highest standard to help them live a long and fruitful life.

Outside of work, Dr. Kerr is passionate about personal growth through reading and exercise. What he enjoys most of all is spending time with his supportive wife, Jeannie, and his daughters, Kiran and Korey whom he adores.

Dr. Andrew Edmonds

Dr. Andrew Edmonds has been with our practice since 2016, and he brings with him valuable experience and insight for making a visit to Sleep Better Austin a great experience for all our patients! He especially enjoys giving people a better and healthier life by providing them with techniques and treatments to improve their sleep at night. He is committed to staying current with research, techniques and advancements in the sleep dental field so that he can better help and educate our patients to make the best decisions for their health.

Dr. Matthew Dekow

Dr. Dekow was born in Massachusetts and grew up just north of Boston. Before he decided to become a dentist, Dr. Dekow worked as a biomedical engineer for GE Healthcare. Although he enjoyed his job, he missed regularly interacting with people and felt like he wasn’t contributing to his community as much as he wanted to. Dr. Dekow completed his undergraduate degree in engineering at Duke University in Durham, NC, and his Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Boston University. He completed his residency at Fort Hood, TX, and earned his master’s degree in oral biology from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He also has experience with forensic dentistry from serving in the U.S. Army. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Board of General Dentistry, and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also published in Dental Sleep Medicine in the Journal of Military Medicine.

Dr. Dekow loves teaching others about dentistry, and he spent a year as a mentor and Assistant Director of a general dentistry residency program, where he taught residents. He enjoys teaching patients about their own oral health so they can have a healthy, happy smile. Helping others is what he loves to do and what motivates him every day.

In his free time, Dr. Dekow loves hiking, biking, and exploring different parks in the Kyle and Austin areas. He also loves to ski whenever he has a chance to travel up north, skiing in the Alps is high up on his bucket list! Dr. Dekow’s wife, Amanda, grew up near a lake in Michigan and they enjoy bringing their two children, Parker and Kate, to Lake Travis to explore nature. The Dekow family has a Wheaten Terrier named Gracie, who always enjoys joining their adventures whenever she can!

Dr. Vanesa Vaquer

Originally from Argentina and having grown up in the vibrant city of Miami, Florida, Dr. Vanesa Vaquer is a passionate, well-rounded individual ingrained with a love for traveling, dancing, and cherishing precious moments with family and friends. Now based in Austin, Texas since 2019, she is a highly competent professional in the field of dentistry. Her extensive educational journey encompasses obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences, and a minor in Psychology, from Florida International University in 2012, followed by achieving her commendable Doctor of Dental Medicine credentials from the esteemed University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2017. With a combination of expertise, dedication, and a warm personal touch, Dr. Vaquer is an outstanding dental practitioner dedicated to providing high-quality dental care.

Dr. Rich Leung

Dr. Rich is a native of California, and it has always been his desire to provide quality dental care in a comfortable and relaxing environment. He graduated from the University of California in Riverside in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in business. After practicing financial consulting for five years, Dr. Rich went on to achieve his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2009 from the prestigious New York University College of Dentistry. While in dental school, Dr. Rich’s clinical skills stood out early on as faculty recognized his passion for dentistry and commitment to ensuring patient comfort and wellbeing.

Since earning his DDS, Dr. Rich has carried the same dedication to excellence into his career. He has pursued advanced level training in numerous areas. Some of these are cosmetic dentistry, full-mouth reconstruction, dental implants, orthodontics, Invisalign® clear aligners and sedation dentistry. Dr. Rich is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Orthodontic Society and International Association for Orthodontics.

As the owner of Temple Dental Trails and Lakewood Dental Trails, Dr. Rich brings all his knowledge and skills to our neighborhood, always working hard to maintain a culture of high standard of care and exceptional patient service. When it comes to dentistry, patient comfort and experience are as important to Dr. Rich as the quality of care he delivers.

Dr. Rich is known for his gentle touch, compassionate nature and skill. His passion is helping his patients overcome their dental fears. He also loves helping others feel better about their smiles, and he enjoys watching his team grow professionally.

In his personal life, Dr. Rich and his wife, Alexandra, have three children, Sadie, Ranlee and Liam. When not busy with the kiddos, his hobbies include basketball, weight training, martial arts and video games. He is an avid athlete as well as a caring father. Focusing on the family is an important part of our practice philosophy and culture. Dr. Rich looks forward to getting to know you and your family!

Jessica — Director of Operations
Jessica has been with the team at Sleep Better Austin for seven years and loves working in an environment where the health of our patients always comes first! She creates systems to ensure that our patients are taken care of from the moment they schedule their appointment to when they’re walking out our door with happy smiles.

Jessica has been married to her husband for 16 years and has three children, Kristen, Marcus and Noah, two of whom are in college. In her free time, Jessica loves crafting, being creative, spending time with her family and friends, and enjoying life.

Ben — Director of Physician Relations
Ben has been with our practice since 2020. Ben loves the can-do, entrepreneurial spirit of our office, and he does his best to educate outside health care providers about our services in order to offer care for their patients who have not treated their sleep apnea. In addition, he maintains good follow-up practices with referring providers in order to provide the best care to our mutual patients.

Ben has graduated summa cum laude from the School of Hard Knocks, and he has two wonderful and intelligent children and a talented, insightful fiancée.

Nancy — Financial Coordinator
Nancy has an associate degree in healthcare administration. She is a great team player and goes above and beyond to help others. She enjoys the closeness of our team along with the ability of working as a team to accomplish goals. She feels that choosing Sleep Better Austin has been a great career choice and looks forward to many more years.

She has two children and two grandchildren, and she enjoys photography and crafts.
