2020 UAAB Advising Conference Proposal Submissions
Future Trends in Academic Advising

This year the University Academic Advising Board will hold a drive-in conference at Virginia Commonwealth University. The theme of this one day conference focuses future trends in academic advising.

For this event, we invite proposals from all levels (grad students, new advisors, advising administrators etc.) and areas in higher education that can partner with advising to support student success. You do not need to be a member of NACADA to attend or present at this conference. Proposals should:

- be formatted for 1 hour lecture or panel,  sessions
- include a description with session objectives & relationship to conference theme if applicable
- include an abstract (limit: 870 characters with spaces) to be printed in the schedule if selected
- focus on topics related to advising, including but not limited to: advisor self-care, inter-institutional advising programs, special populations, student persistence, advising technology & use of social media, advising partnerships with other institutional areas, etc.

Proposals will be selected based on the level of interest, application, clarity of abstract and proposal description, creativity, relevance, and grounding in research where applicable.
Proposal Deadline: March 16, 2020
Presenters Notified: April 6, 2020

Registration cost: $30 for VCU staff $40non-VCU staff per person.**

**Due to budgetary considerations, the conference is unable to offer complimentary registration for presenters.

Presentation Abstract (maximum of 870 characters) *
The abstract explains the presentation and is printed in the program schedule if your proposal is selected. It should accurately describe your presentation and what attendees can expect to learn about. Conference participants use session abstracts to determine which sessions to attend so please include the content and focus of your proposed session.
Presentation Description *
The description is used to evaluate the proposal. Please be sure to include an outline of the session, learning goals, how the session relates to the theme of the conference, if applicable, and examples of any activities.
