In an isolation or quarantine hall? Here's everything you need to know about meal delivery services

Streamlined process makes it easy for students to order nutritious delivery meals

With recent reports of increased COVID-19 cases in student housing, some students may have concerns with how they will access meals if they are moved to an isolation or quarantine hall.

Ohio University Culinary Services has developed a safe and easy meal delivery process for students in quarantine or isolation.

The first step is to visit https://www.ohio.edu/food and click on "Fall 2020 Planning." Students will need to click on the link to “Order Quarantine/Isolation Meals” to begin the order process.

The Quarantine/Isolation meal form allows students to identify dietary restrictions and choose their meals for the duration of their stay, including side dishes (including soup) and beverages. Students will receive a light breakfast daily, and hearty lunch and dinner meals. Students should work with the University’s registered dietitian if they have dietary needs that are not addressed on the order form.

“Recognizing that these are extremely stressful times, we have made this process as easy as possible for our students,” Associate Vice President for Auxiliaries Gwyn Scott said. “Meal delivery can be set up in advance of relocation, so students are able to plan ahead to order a wide range of healthy and delicious meals safely and efficiently.”

Students need to complete the meal delivery form by 10 a.m. to receive same-day, mid-day meal delivery.

Students in quarantine and isolation halls will have designated areas assigned for meal delivery. Those meals will be labeled with the student’s name for quick and easy pick-up.

Freshly-prepared meals will be delivered daily once a student in quarantine or isolation has completed and submitted their order form. Delivered meals are not frozen, but they are also not delivered ready-to-eat. Students can store the delivery meals in their individual microfridge if they aren’t hungry, and all meals must be heated in the microwave before eating.

Scott says the University has established rigorous safety protocols for staff preparing the delivery meals.

“We take the safety and security of our students and staff very seriously,” she said. “We have ramped up safety and sanitation efforts to ensure all COVID-19 protocols are being closely followed as we prepare and deliver these meals.”

Students can also order sundry items to be delivered from Nelson Market to be delivered with their meals.

Students should contact Culinary Services directly at 740-593-2970 with questions or concerns about delivery meals.
