Brighton Beach Memoirs

Here is part one of Neil Simon's autobiographical trilogy: a portrait of the writer as a young teen in 1937 living with his family in a crowded, lower middle-class Brooklyn walk-up. Eugene Jerome, standing in for the author, is the narrator and central character. Dreaming of baseball and girls, Eugene must cope with the mundane existence of his family life in Brooklyn: a formidable mother, an overworked father, and his worldly older brother, Stanley. Throw into the mix his widowed Aunt Blanche, her two young (but rapidly aging) daughters, and you have a recipe for hilarity, served up Simon-style.

This bittersweet memoir evocatively captures the life of a struggling Jewish household where, as his father states, "if you didn't have a problem, you wouldn't be living here."

The Mousetrap

A local woman is murdered. The guests and staff at Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another. A police detective arrives and begins to interrogate the suspects.

When a second murder takes place, tensions and fears escalate. This record-breaking murder mystery features a brilliant surprise finish from Dame Agatha Christie, the foremost mystery writer of her time.

THE NAKED TRUTH

August 16th-18th & August 23rd-25th

The Naked Truth is an award-winning, light comedy with depth, a sex comedy with more than sex on its mind. When a couple from Ohio inherits a clothing-optional resort in Key West, they discover parts of themselves never before exposed! The staff includes a gay front desk clerk who’s an aspiring drag queen and a lesbian handyman who moonlights as a dominatrix. And then there’s the potential buyer of the hotel, a businessman who likes giving women the business.

Overwhelmed by the lifestyles of the resort’s staff and guests, the couple is forced to face questions of what they believe and who they really are. Show Business Weekly wrote, “The greatest strength of THE NAKED TRUTH is its ability to explore actual topics of substance, from sex roles in society to social roles in marriage, in a buoyant comedic framework.”

Our Winter Show

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder

Set in London in 1907, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder centers on Monty Navarro, a penniless clerk who is informed after the death of his mother that he is ninth in line to inherit the earldom of Highhurst, controlled by the wealthy D’Ysquith banking
family. After the imperious ruling Lord dismisses Monty’s claim of being a relative, the eight D’Ysquiths ahead of young Mr. Navarro begin dying in natural and unnatural ways. (A single actor plays all the not-so-nice D'Ysquiths, adding to the merriment.)

Meanwhile, Monty is trying to woo money-minded Sibella Hallward —until he finds himself drawn to young Phoebe D’Ysquith. How will all these convoluted storylines come together? Can he knock off his unsuspecting relatives without being caught and become the ninth Earl of Highhurst? And what of love? Because murder isn't the only thing on Monty's mind...
