By donating to the Cardinal Athletic Fund, you are helping to leave your mark on this university and the lives of each Cardinal student-athlete who steps on campus. Your donation directly impacts our 700 student-athletes, representing 23 sports, providing them with a championship experience in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.
Months ago, we began to take many steps to immediately reduce expenses and mitigate potential deficits. While we are thrilled to be able to offer football this season, the reality of reduced capacity will leave our department facing a $10-million deficit.
While other schools have had to announce the elimination of sports, we have worked tirelessly to try and preserve all student-athlete scholarships and all 23 of our sports. And now, we are asking for your help.
You will have the opportunity to help us continue to provide resources for all our 700 student-athletes.

WHY DONATE
- Your donation helps ensure that UofL stays at an elite level in the ACC, athletically and academically.
- Donations enable us to hire the most talented staff in the industry and to retain the maximum number of strength coaches, athletic trainers, academic counselors, and more. All who are essential to the safety and well-being of our student-athletes.
- Your donation supports all student-athletes, across every sport. It ensures no scholarships or teams are eliminated due to significant budget reduction.
- Also, since these donations are not associated with tickets, you receive a tax receipt (consult your advisor on full deductibility).
IMPACT ON STUDENT-ATHLETES
- Regardless of the impact of COVID-19, we are committed to providing our student-athletes with the highest level of academic, athletic, and medical support.
- Even if sports are not played, all scholarships will be honored.
- To ensure the safety of our student-athletes, we are incurring increased nutrition and medical costs. These funds are used to support safe travel back to campus, enhanced sanitation measures at dorms and training facilities, continuous COVID-19 testing, and many other safety measures.
- We are also allocating an additional $700,000 for an increase in UofL tuition, as well as an increase in financial aid costs as many classes move online.
