New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps

Hello New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps (NOMRC) Volunteers,

Thank you for your continued dedication to serving our community during medical and public health emergencies.

Between the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 hurricane season, tropical weather sheltering and flu shots, vaccine administration and Hurricane Laura relief, this year the Medical Reserve Corps has been tirelessly supporting the City of New Orleans in responding to emergencies and aiding residents. We see your hard work. We appreciate you, and we are thankful for your involvement in keeping our city safe during public health emergencies and disasters.

Introducing the NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps

With the increased need in 2020 for volunteers to support public health and public safety efforts, the City has expanded volunteerism to include a new group, the NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps. While nothing will change with MRC operations, or with MRC as you know it, NOLA Ready volunteers will now be joining alongside MRC volunteers for various non-medical events including for exercises, trainings, and disaster response.

In addition, continue reading to learn more about our brand new volunteer software. We will transition to using this software to schedule shifts, store contact information, send text alerts (if needed), and provide you with an online training platform to take trainings at your convenience.

The NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps

The NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps helps build a culture of preparedness and resilience, supporting first responders, community partners, and residents in disaster response and recovery efforts. NOLA Ready Corps volunteers are part of a team working to meet residents' needs before, during, and after emergencies. NOLA Ready Corps volunteers can receive training in hurricane preparedness, City-Assisted Evacuation, shelter operations, pet evacuation and sheltering, flood recovery, and more. The NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps is managed by the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.

The New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps (NOMRC)

Within the NOLA Ready Volunteer Corps is the New Orleans Medical Reserve Corps (NOMRC), a medical and public health volunteer organization. The mission of NOMRC is to be a diverse group of committed volunteers with skills and expertise to supplement public health emergency preparedness and response in New Orleans. Volunteers receive training in First Aid/CPR, Psychological First Aid, vaccination outreach, meeting the needs of medically vulnerable populations, and more. NOMRC is managed by the New Orleans Health Department.
