Nourishing the community through food.

The Orange Home Grown Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to cultivate community and reconnect people to a healthy sustainable food system.

About Us

Reconnecting people to a healthy and sustainable food system.

Orange Home Grown Foundation works to promote environmental and holistic health by providing creative environments and programs that foster education, awareness, and action. Our hope is to enrich our community while changing how people measure the value of food and the impacts it has on our lives and the environment.

Our Programs

Farmers & Artisans Market

Every Saturday 9 AM – 1 PM • Rain or Shine

303 West Palm Avenue Orange, CA 92866

The Certified Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market (OHGFAM) is a food hub where the community comes to connect. The market sources small family farms from the Southern, Central, and Northern California regions that hold a California Certified Producer's Certificate (CPC). Food Artisans participating at the market sell items such as breads, cheeses, oils, and dips that are made using traditional methods. Activities at the market include: live music, dog sitting, kid’s club, cooking demos, yoga, educational classes, and more.

Education Farm

Open Every Friday to Volunteers from 9 AM - 11 AM

356 N. Lemon Street Orange, CA 92866

The Orange Home Grown Education Farm is a community urban farm space dedicated to providing hands-on regenerative farming, volunteer opportunities, and educational events for all ages. The Education Farm is a collaborative space open to anyone who wants to put their hands in the soil.

Seed Lending Libraries

The Orange Seed Lending Library is a free self-serve system located at the Main Orange Public Library, Taft Library, and El Modena Branch Library in the city of Orange, and every third Saturday of the month at the Farmers Market. Community members are invited to borrow seeds for their garden and return seeds to share with others in the community. Seed donations are accepted at the Main Orange Library and at the farmers market information booth.

Youth Food Literacy Program

The Orange Home Grown Youth Food Literacy Program (YFLP) is a nine month course where Orange Unified School District (OUSD) high school students engage in the entire food production cycle, from seed to dinner table, and beyond. This course gives them the tools to make powerful choices related to food, their health, and their future. It offers opportunities for volunteering and potential job experiences after the program ends.

Annual Scholarships

Each year Orange Home Grown awards multiple scholarships to high school seniors or college level students whose studies align with the Orange Home Grown Foundation mission. Assisting youth with aligned interests and goals is both a win for those awarded and our community.

Hart Park Orange Grove Maintenance

The City of Orange and the Orange Home Grown Foundation partner together to support the clean-up and maintenance of the Robert D. Hoyt Historic Grove, along with the harvesting of the fruit. Easily 10,000+ pounds of citrus are harvested each year by dedicated volunteers and donated to local organizations such as Abound Food Care, who help distribute the fruit to those in need throughout Orange and surrounding cities.

Our Impact

Through our program initiatives we’ve impacted the lives of our local schools, neighborhoods, and the greater community.

80,000 lbs

of Food Donated

Since 2009, Orange Home Grown has donated over 80,000 lbs of locally grown, seasonal produce to volunteers, schools, homeless shelters, restaurants, chefs, student groups, and neighbors.

The Hart Park Grove Gleaning Program harvests about 10,000 lbs of citrus annually. This produce gets donated to Abound Food Care to support those in need while helping to reduce food waste.

$86,500
