The tenth annual UNT Open Access Symposium will be held May 17–18, 2019, at UNT Dallas College of Law. With a theme of “Is Open Access an Answer for Access to Justice?”, this year’s program will feature presentations and interactive sessions led by legal scholars and practitioners from Penn, Harvard, Duke, Saskatchewan, the Harris County Law Library, UNT, and more.

Registration is free for students and inexpensive for others.  Please register to attend by April 30!

The University of North Texas Libraries and the UNT Dallas College of Law have seen an enthusiastic response to their call for proposals for the 10th annual UNT Open Access Symposium, to be held at the UNT Dallas College of Law. The event program will be released soon, filled with sessions now spanning two days (May 17–18), the organizers look forward to providing a special opportunity for students to present their work at the symposium—during a poster session on May 17. We've received many excellent proposals in response to this year's call for proposals and have therefore decided to extend the symposium to two days: both May 17 and 18.  Stay tuned for the program!

We are pleased to announce the call for proposals for presentations at the UNT Open Access Symosium 2019, to be held May 17, 2019, at the UNT Dallas College of Law. This year's theme is "Is Open Access An Answer for Access to Justice?" We invite brief proposals for presentations and interactive sessions to address questions such as:

  • Is open access to primary legal sources necessary for access to justice? If so, what is required?
  • Is open access to legal analysis and guidance necessary for access to justice?
  • What is the role of information professionals as mediators of resources to best serve their communities?
  • What are best practices for courts, the bar, and legal aid providers to use open access to legal information to promote access to justice?

Proposals are due Friday, January 11, 2019.  For more information, see the call for proposals.
