Biography

2019: Played in all 15 games for the Mavericks, including 14 starts…Led the Maverick rushing attack with 1,667 yards…Set an MSU single-season record with 31 rushing touchdowns…Rushed for more than 100 yards in eight games, including 242 yards against Southwest Minnesota State and a season-high 254 yards against Sioux Falls…Set an MSU record with six rushing touchdowns against Sioux Falls…Was named the NSIC Offensive Player of the Week twice and the D2Football.com Player of the Week once…Recorded at least two touchdowns in 10 games…Named to the All-NSIC First Team and the NSIC Offensive Player of the Year…Set a school record for points scored in a season with 186…Received AFCA, AP, D2CCA and Don Hansen All-American First Team honors…Also received D2Football.com All-American Second Team accolades…Finished fifth in the Halon Hill voting…Finished his career at Minnesota State as its all-time leader in rushing yards (4,922), carries (861), rushing touchdowns (65), points scored (392), all purpose yards (5,024) and touchdowns scored (65)…Received the Division II Bobby Bell College Impact Player of the Year award from the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation.

2018: Played and started in all 14 games for the Mavericks at tailback…Set MSU single-season records with 1,705 rushing yards, 22 touchdown carries and 356 carries…Averaged 4.8 yards per carry and 121.8 rushing yards a game…Named to the D2CCA All-American Second Team…Set an MSU single-game record with 50 carries against Tarleton State in the third round of the NCAA Tournament…Rushed for more than 100 yards in nine games, including a season-high 261 yards vs. Tarleton State…Tallied at least one rushing touchdown in 12 games, including three against Augustana, Winona State, MSU Moorhead and Sioux Falls…Named to the All-NSIC First Team…Recorded more than 100 rushing yards in all three of MSU’s NCAA Tournament games…Led the team in scoring with 132 points and in all purpose yards with 1,770.

2017: Appeared and started in 11 games for Mavericks at tailback…Led Minnesota State rushing attack with 1,550 yards and 15 touchdown carries…1,550 rushing yards are the most in a season in team history…Averaged 140.9 rushing yards per games and 6.3 yards per carry…Rushed for more than 100 yards in 11 games…Opened the season rushing for more than 100 yards in Minnesota State’s first seven games…Rushed for 229 yards against Minnesota Duluth which are the second-most in a game in team history…Recorded two rushing touchdowns in five games…Rushed for more than 100 yards in all three of Minnesota State’s NCAA Tournament games, including 193 yards and two touchdown carries against Midwestern State…Named All-NSIC First Team and was named NSIC Offensive Newcomer of the Year…Earned D2CCA and Don Hansen All-Super Region Second Team honors…Also received an All-American Honorable Mention from D2Football.com and Don Hansen.

Previous School: Played one season with the University of South Dakota in 2015...As a Coyote, Gunn played in seven games where he rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns...Against Youngstown State and Missouri State, Gunn rushed for 46 yards.

High School: Before joining USD, Gunn was a two-time all-conference honoree for the Minooka High School football team...As a senior, he rushed for 1,181 yards and 14 touchdowns...He finished his career with more than 3,200 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns and was named the team’s MVP in 2014.
