Rep. Andy Kim hasn’t given much thought to who he’d back for the presidency if U.S. Sen. Cory Booker doesn’t clinch the Democratic nomination to take on President Donald Trump.
“I don’t know. Things are moving so fast with the presidential, and as I said, my main focus has been on the district so far, so I haven’t been able to pay as close attention to the daily ongoings. We’ll see on that front,” Kim said. “I know the senator’s in the next round of debates. I know he’s been working hard, so we’ll see how he does, and I certainly wish him the best. And we’ll cross that bridge if that’s a bridge that needs to be crossed.”
Kim has endorsed Booker’s presidential bid, as has every other New Jersey Democrat serving in Congress.
Currently, Booker’s Real Clear Politics polling average of 2.4% puts him in seventh place in a narrowing field of Democratic presidential candidates.
He’s been in more or less the same position for months.
Ten candidates, Booker included, have qualified for the third round of presidential debates, which will take place on Sept. 12.
