Rep. Josh Gottheimer thinks it might be time for Paterson Councilman Michael Jackson to quit if he refuses to apologize for using the “Jew us down” slur at a council meeting last week.
“The Councilman should either apologize immediately or resign. His anti-Semitic comments do not reflect our Jersey values,” Gottheimer told the New Jersey Globe.
The two-term congressman, who represents part of Passaic County, called for the ouster of Jeffrey Dye as president of the Passaic NAACP last month after publication of his anti-Semitic and anti-Latino tirades cost him his job in the Murphy administration.
At a public council meeting last month, Jackson praised a developer for not looking to “Jew us down” on the costs of the Hinchcliffe Stadium redevelopment project.
Jackson’s comments were first reported by TapIntoPaterson.
