FACULTY POSITION IN COGNITIVE AND/OR COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE

Tenure Track Assistant Professor position, beginning Fall 2024. The Center for Neuroscience (CNS) in the College of Biological Sciences and the Departments of Neurological Surgery and/or Neurology departments in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis invite applications for a position in cognitive and/or computational neuroscience. We seek an outstanding candidate focused on addressing how cortical and subcortical networks generate complex behaviors such as memory, decision-making and planning, learning, sensorimotor control, motivation and cognitive control, language and communication, etc., in both health and disease. We especially seek candidates who will interact and enhance our growing team focused on human intracranial recording and stimulation. Please note that the space for this search is dry lab space.

A Ph.D. and/or M.D. or equivalent and postdoctoral experience are required. The appointee is expected to have an active research program, a strong commitment to high quality teaching, the potential to attract extramural funding, and excellent potential for interactions/collaborations with existing basic science, clinical, and engineering faculty at the CNS and in the Neurological Surgery department. The applicant’s accomplishments in innovative research and commitments to teaching and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion should demonstrate their potential to develop into the future leaders of their fields.

The successful applicant will hold an academic appointment in the School of Medicine, Department of Neurological Surgery and/or Neurology, and will contribute to the undergraduate teaching mission of the University as well as to the University-wide Neuroscience or Biomedical Engineering Graduate Programs. They will be housed in the Center for Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary research center that is home to more than 26 laboratories working collaboratively in all areas of neuroscience. This candidate will also have access to the vibrant scientific community in the UC Davis Neuroscience Consortium, including the Center for Neuroengineering and Medicine and the Center for Mind and Brain, as well as a large group of clinicians working in this field. The neuroscience community at U.C. Davis is broad and extremely well integrated across campus, with exceptionally close and collegial interactions among between members of the Center and faculty from other campus institutes, departments, and graduate programs.
