Job description
Fuse Washington is hiring a part-time, temporary Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Associate Organizer to help win Democratic victories in the 42nd Legislative District. This person will work an average of 20 hours a week focused on mobilizing youth in the 42nd LD to turn out to vote. The Associate Organizer will train volunteers in a suite of remote tactics like phone banking, textbanking, and utilizing technology including Callfire, Thrutext, Open VPB, and Reach.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Relational Organizing - The Associate Organizer will work to activate their personal network to turn out for the election
- Leadership Development and Vote Captain Recruitment- The Associate Organizer will work to develop volunteers into leaders through skills trainings, recruitment events, and ongoing GOTV Activities
- Hosting GOTV events - remotely train volunteers and assist with direct voter contact in phone banks and text banks
- Communications - Write compelling content for events, scripts, agendas, and local emails
Required Qualifications - Work, volunteer, academic, and life experience are all acceptable
- A large personal network in the district and access to leaders in the community
- A strong knowledge of the 42nd legislative districts and the neighborhoods therein.
- Strong relationship-building skills
- A strong sense of intuition and ability to make decisions on the fly
- A commitment to community organizing as a means of social change
- A willingness to activate personal networks
- Personal commitment to undoing institutional racism and advancing social, environmental, and economic justice
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good sense of humor
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, campaign-style work environment
- Ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary
- A strong self-starter with a proclivity for developing systems
- Tech savvy, experience using social media platforms, online databases, and Microsoft Office software. Experience using NGP VAN or similar voter file database a plus.
Desired Qualifications- These skills or experiences are not required for an applicant to be competitive.
- Experience using Reach or other relational organizing tools
- Experience with Every Action or volunteer management software, peer-to-peer texting tools like ThruText (previously Relay) or Hustle, and auto-dial software like Callfire
- Fluency in Spanish
- Familiarity with Washington State politics and communities
- Existing relationships with leaders in the 42nd LD
Location:
This Associate Organizer will be working in the 42nd LD focused on activating young people utilizing relational tools and tactics. While all planned events are remote in nature, there is a strong preference for the Associate Organizer to be based in the district.
Salary and Benefits
Stipend of $400/week for 20 hours of work a week paid in bi-weekly disbursements.
