COVID-19 Emergency Grant Program

Dear Janet,

Ohio's necessary and common-sense response to slow the spread of the coronavirus means that many revenue-generating activities at history organizations are postponed or cancelled. Meanwhile, expenses remain as you work to serve your communities remotely. While organizations are coping and creatively adapting to a new reality, the history community is taking a hit.

To soften the blow and help bolster local history organizations during these difficult times, we've created a new, temporary program, Ohio History Fund COVID-19 Emergency Grants.

Visit ohiohistory.org/covidgrant to discover:

  • Which organizations are eligible to apply
  • What activities are supported
  • Amounts available
  • How to apply
Here's a preview: Ohio History Fund COVID-19 Emergency Grants will range from $500 - $3,000 and are are based on the applicant's budget size. Unlike regular Ohio History Fund grants, COVID-19 Emergency Grants are intended to supplement operational costs, such as utilities and payroll. Applicants can also use grants to adapt programs for online audiences. No match or cost share is required. Grant funds are limited.

To help to your organization quickly, the application is short and the turnaround time is fast. Applications are due June 1. Grant recipients will be notified and disbursements made as speedily as possible after July 15.

Help Still Needed - Ohio History Fund Tax Check-Off

Due to the pandemic, the deadline to file your state and federal taxes has been extended to July 15. Because of this extension, there's more time to share a part of your income tax refund with the Ohio History Fund, if you haven't filed yet. We'll make regular History Fund grants again next year and we need your help as much as ever to do that. Look for "Ohio History Fund" on your state tax return, line 26f, and designate an amount (avg. donation $9-10).
