Resources for Small Businesses

The DC Public Health Emergency Small Business Grants application will open tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24 and the US Small Business Administration disaster loan are currently open. Click here for the latest details and information.

Additional Road Closures DC 2019 Tax Filings and Payment Deadline Extended to July 15, 2020

Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey DeWitt announced that the deadline for taxpayers to file and pay their 2019 District of Columbia individual and fiduciary income tax returns (D-40, D-41, and D-40B), partnership tax returns (D-65), and franchise tax returns (D-20, D-30) is extended to July 15, 2020. This means taxpayers will have an additional 90 days to file and pay from the original deadline of April 15, 2020.

The Internal Revenue Service has also extended the federal filing and payment deadline to July 15, 2020.

The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) encourages taxpayers who are able to file their returns electronically to do so. For additional information, please contact OTR’s Customer Service Center at (202) 727-4TAX (4829).

Additional Road Closures Around Tidal Basin

As the District continues working to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Mayor Muriel Bowser is extending road closures and taking additional measures to restrict access to the Tidal Basin. The Mayor has directed the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to work with the DC National Guard to enforce a restricted access zone around the Tidal Basin until further notice to ensure social distancing and prevent further community transmission of COVID-19. Further, pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be restricted in the area of the National Mall. Check the MPD release for complete details.

Applying for Unemployment Assistance

Daily Mayoral Briefings at 11:00 AM

Mayor Bowser has provided frequent updates on the District government's response to the coronavirus pandemic. Her administration is now going to be providing daily briefings at the standard time of 11:00 am. The briefings can be viewed on cable channel 16, the DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment website, or on the Mayor's social media channels. 

DC Medical Reserve Corps

The mayor is asking for volunteers for the DC Medical Reserve Corps! The District of Columbia (DC) Medical Reserve Corps (DC MRC) supports the DC Department of Health (DC Health) in its role as lead for public health and medical emergency preparedness.

The DC MRC is open to medical and non-medical volunteers 18 years of age and older. Whether you are retired, active in your profession, a community member, or a student, we need your assistance in the DC MRC. Volunteers receive free training. There is a growing need for volunteers with medical experience. More information is available here: https://dchealth.dc.gov/mrc
