Update from BRWR

Snow, Collections and Keeping Families Safe

Hi Hi, just a quick couple of updates from BRWR.

- First, is news of our re-scheduled clothing collection this Saturday.

- Second, is how you can influence the reunion of UK refugee families.

In case you need reminding of the importance of keeping refugee families together, here's a short film about Salma and her family, from Syria: Salma's family

Collection Day - This Saturday

We're sorry we weren't able to offer last Saturday as our collection day for 'People In Motion'. In short, the snow made things impassable, so we had to postpone. However, GREAT NEWS, we'll be at The Bridge Church in Headless Cross (Redditch) this Saturday from 2pm - 4pm.

The wonderful 'People In Motion' ensure that your donations reach displaced people across Europe. And whilst (it's alleged) we're approaching spring, your offers of coats, woolies and hoodies will still help to keep folks warm. So please be generous. And have a shufty for any unwanted jackets, jumpers, hats, gloves, sleeping bags and the like.

You may also wish to buy some essential items to donate. Items like: new underwear and socks, shampoo, liquid soap, sanitary towels etc. Thank you.

Family Reunion - How You Can Help

The situation that UK refugees find themselves in, invariably means they are seperated from key family members. Currently the UK's strict law on "refugee family reunion" doesn't take into account the fact that families come in different shapes & sizes.

Next Friday (16th March) there is a bill going before Parliament that would seek to allow more refugees to reunite in safety in the UK. We'd really appreciate if you could help.

If you have a moment soon, we would urge you to write to your MP about the 'Refugee Family Reunion Bill' - to ask them to attend and vote in favour.

There's a great explanation of the bill here: Amnesty
And a template letter that you could use (or customise): To your MP

Thank you. Keep safe.
Until next time. x
