Whitney Nash, PhD, APRN, FAANP

Associate Professor of Nursing, Assistant Vice President of Interprofessional Practice Partnerships and Associate Dean of Practice and Service at the University of Louisville, School of Nursing

In 2005, Dr. Nash opened the Kentucky Racing Health Services Center. This low-cost clinic now operates with five part-time NPs and provides full primary care. Dr. Nash was awarded the National Outstanding Faculty Practice Award by the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties in April 2011, the University of Louisville’s Outstanding Community Engagement Award in 2010 and most recently the American Academy of Nursing’s Edge Runner Distinction.

This clinic was featured in the May 2018 edition of Oprah Magazine.  

In 2018, Dr. Nash founded the U of L Care Partners, an inter-professional, primary care practice located in the School of Dentistry.  This practice is a nurse practitioner managed, revenue-generating model that expands primary care access for the community. Dr. Nash is a federally-funded researcher in the area of inter-professional practice and education, particularly with nurse practitioner students.  

In addition to her practice activities, she has traveled to six of the seven continents providing student learning opportunities related to global health as well as providing relief efforts with various organizations. She has taught at all levels of nursing from LPN to PhD and DNP.
