SYNOPSIS

     Requires Department of Agriculture to promote school meal programs.

An Act concerning school meal programs and supplementing chapter 58 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.  The Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Department of Education, shall develop promotional material for the "School Meal Program" and provide every school district with the "School Meal Program" promotional material, which shall include, but need not be limited to, pamphlets, presentation material, webinars, and sample letters schools may send to parents. 

     b.    The "School Meal Program" promotional material shall highlight and promote the value and importance of the National School Lunch Program, the federal School Breakfast Program, and the federal Summer Food Service Program, and the importance of providing a nutritious meal to all children for their general health and their success in school.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires the Department of Agriculture, in cooperation with the Department of Education, to develop promotional material for the "School Meal Program" and provide every school district with the "School Meal Program" promotional material, which is required to include, but need not be limited to, pamphlets, presentation material, webinars, and sample letters schools may send to parents. 

     The "School Meal Program" promotional material is intended to highlight and promote the value and importance of the National School Lunch Program, the federal School Breakfast Program, and the federal Summer Food Service Program, and the importance of providing a nutritious meal to all children for their general health and their success in school.
