SEATTLE-- University of Washington graduates will not get their traditional graduation ceremony this June, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, university officials announced Wednesday.

Instead, the graduation will go virtual and for the first time, combine all three UW campuses into one graduation ceremony.

The live, worldwide and interactive web cast will take place on the afternoon of June 13.

"The procession will continue with the entry of the deans, President Ana Mari Cauce, the Board of Regents, and Provost Mark Richards," officials wrote on the UW graduation web page. "From there the ceremony will unfold, culminating in the conferring of degrees and the turning of tassels, marking your entrance into the ranks of esteemed Husky alumni."

Graduates and family members will also be able to look up photos and message from fellow graduates, browse the program to find your name, and share the moment with family and friends in chat rooms and watch groups.

Then all 2020 graduates will be invited back in June of 2021 for the more traditional graduation experience at Husky Stadium where they can walk the commencement stage.

Students can register for the graduation webcast at the UW Graduation site.
