Jeremy Hubbard co-anchors FOX31 Denver News at 5 p.m., 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. with Erika Gonzalez.
He’s a fifth–generation Colorado native, born in Glenwood Springs. He also spent part of his childhood in Leadville.
Since returning to FOX31 in 2011, he’s reported from more than 50 countries all over the world. In 2021, he reported from Russia and Ukraine. He’s traveled to Afghanistan and Kosovo to profile Colorado service members on deployment. He’s also traveled with Colorado World War II veterans to Pearl Harbor, Normandy and the Pacific islands of Guam, Saipan and Tinian. His reporting for FOX31 has also taken him to Israel, the West Bank, Bosnia, North Korea, China, Japan and Vietnam.
This is Hubbard’s second stint at FOX31 Denver. He first worked here from 2004-2007 as the weekend anchor. In 2007, he left for ABC News, where he worked as a New York-based anchor and correspondent. He was co-anchor of ABC’s national early-morning newscasts, “World News Now” and “America This Morning,” and reported for “Good Morning America,” “World News with Diane Sawyer” and “Nightline,” traveling across the country and overseas to cover breaking news, severe weather, the economy and politics for the network.
Hubbard has received 55 Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences/Heartland Chapter, including eight Emmys for his anchoring. For the last four years in a row, he’s received the Award of Excellence from the Colorado Association of Broadcasters for Best Anchor.
He’s also been honored with seven regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and one national Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), and the national Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists. In 2018, his coverage of veterans helped FOX31 win the prestigious “Celebration of Service to America” Award from the National Association of Broadcasters.
Hubbard currently serves on the national board of directors for the Emmy Awards (National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences), and he is a past president of the Heartland Emmy chapter. He serves on the Denver Metro Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, and the board of directors of Shimmering Wings, a non-profit that sends grieving children to Camp Erin Denver, a summer grief camp to help cope with the loss of a parent, sibling or other close family member. In addition, he volunteers his time traveling the world with The Greatest Generations Foundation, a veterans charity founded in Denver that returns World War II and Vietnam heroes to the battlefields where the served. He also volunteers with Denver Rescue Mission.
His career began at KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kansas, where he attended college at Wichita State University. In 2012, he and his wife started the Jeremy Hubbard and Taunia Hottman Scholarship in Communication at WSU to help aspiring journalists pay for their education.
He also worked as a reporter and anchor at KMBC-TV in Kansas City from 1998 to 2004.
Hubbard is married with two kids and lives in Denver. He loves to spend his free time traveling. He’s visited more than 70 countries all over the world, and has traveled to all 50 states, and he documents his adventures on his YouTube travel channel.
