WOW! It has been a while since I have read a science fiction romance and all I can say was that ”THE FORGOTTEN COMMANDER” was super steamy and so addicting! I couldn’t get enough of this story and am dying to get my hands on the next book! I hope that K. Webster and Nicole Blanchard will be able to deliver the same level of awesomeness in the future installments.
In this story, there are a group of ten alien males who live together on a desolate planet. They’re the last of their species and two of them come back from a search expedition with five human females who they found on an abandoned spaceship, in sleep capsules. This is a joyous discovery for the men as they were losing all hope of surviving. Now they feel they have a shot at saving their race by possibly impregnating these women. They try at first to artificially inseminate one for fear of catching any disease because that's what caused them to lose so many of their people in the past, but it doesn’t work. When the woman awakens, she is terrified by the pasty white alien vampire looking males she is surrounded by.
Breccan Aloisius is the commander in charge of the group of men and he instantly is drawn to the beautiful little alien. He decides to claim her for himself and at first, she fights him every chance she gets. Aria doesn’t know how she ended up in this strange situation. She just remembers having a hard life previously and turned to drugs to escape the despair. She has no idea how she ended up on that spaceship put under a constant state of cryogenic sleep either. She’s fierce and fights for her independence but she also can’t help that she is starting to develop an intense attraction for Breccan. For the first time in her life, someone is treating her like she’s their world. As if she is the most precious thing in his universe and she comes to realize that she is actually happy and hasn’t had one urge to turn to drugs to numb the pain.
Will Breccan and Aria be able to successfully procreate? When Aria decides to protect the other four women which goes against Breccan's plans to pair them up with some of his men in hopes of procreating, will it tear the couple apart?

K. Webster is writing Sci-Fi?!?! With breeding trope?!?!
Count me in.
The scifi stories with lots of breeding are some of my favourite bedtime stories and my midnight snack :)
I have to admit that it was a good effort. But I needed more. Not much details, not much world building, very abrupt start.
I will wait for the next book.

I’m sorry to say I found this book disappointing. There’s very little world building and I didn’t particularly like any of the characters.
Generally this is the point where I cut my losses and move on. But this book had some fabulous reviews so I stuck with it.
I struggled all the way through. Yes Breccan eventually tried to please his mate. Along with the rest of his guys but it was too little too late for me.
Aria was simply annoying and the story itself had more holes than Swiss cheese. But...
Ultimately it’s an alien breeding romance so I think my expectations were just too high.

K Webster and Nicole Blanchard delivered one heck of a mortarekking hot story!
Welcome to the world of morts and humans. Breccan and his men live a very isolated existence. They are no strangers to loss, having watched their people die painfully one by one. Their race is dying out and they've lost all hope. Until they come upon five life forms - humans - giving them the spark to try. It's breeding time!
I loved this story and the desolate world these authors have created. Aria was once a jaded, lost celebrity and now she really has a purpose. Not only does she have the chance to teach the morts and her Commander, she's learning a thing or two as well. This story was about hope and desperation. It was about loss and new beginnings. It was hella hot and full of heart.
The Forgotten Commander was pretty much instalove at first sight and who wouldn't want a sexy vampire looking alien to claim them as their own? Who would say no to a leader wanting to take care of you and provide for you and love up on you until the end of days? This saga is just beginning and I'm so excited to get my hands on the next rekking installment!

So I do love a bit of alien romance and this one for me delivered a really great start to this new series.
Such a highly imaginative endeavour this was: I adored the descriptive world building and overall alienness of the Morts they for me had almost a reptile feel to them with there forked tongues and paralysing venom.
I also really liked the unique vocabulary used throughout: it really added a nice touch to the whole story, made everything seem just a tad more exotic.
So this is the story of Breccan and Aria: Breccan Aloisius, the forgotten commander of the planet Mortuus: because of a past disaster his race and planet is all but decimated in numbers, down to only ten Morts and none of these survivors are females.
Aria of earth former party girl and actress: when Breccan's Morts intercept five cryo chambers from a passing vessel they feel like there prayers for salvation have finally been answered.
So Aria awakens in a strange place with no idea of where she is and it becomes very evident she is not on earth any longer.
Aria then realises that these scary looking aliens have an agenda and she along with the other females still in cryosleep are the sole hope for this dying planet's future.
So "The Forgotten Commander" is a breeding trope alien romance and I didn't even know that was an actual thing until I embarked upon this book.
its told from dual pov Breccan and Aria.
Aria though a tad highly strung at times seemed a highly pragmatic sort: making the best of things and able to see the bigger overall picture.
She will do what's necessary for her survival and I liked the fact she wasn't really despite her situation a whiner.
Breccan for me came across as such a sweetie he really was adorable in all his interactions with Aria and I couldn't help but warm to the sweetly protective vibe he outwardly portrayed.
This was also equally amusing and scorching hot in temperature.
I really enjoyed myself here and will definitely be reading the next in this series.
An observation though before I finish up here: Aria didn't seem to know how she had ended up in cryosleep at least that's the impression I got.
I was surprised this wasn't elaborated on further, maybe I just missed something or this is one explanation for a later date it just struck me as odd.

February 19, 2019I'm not going to rate this one because honestly, I HATE sci-fi romances. However, I ADORE K Webster, so I figured if anyone could get me to like a sci-fi romance, it would be her. Alas, nope, I just couldn't get into it. I found it too weird. The whole "forced implantation" thing was creepy as f-ck, and SO not OK on ANY level. On top of that, the heroine was super annoying...c'est la vie!

Interesting, but lacking many things.
The world they're living on is hell: radiocative, nothing grows on it, predators everywhere... So, how the dying race can get hope only because they found 5 human females? So they, re happy because they can reproduce, but there're some very big problms with that! What will they do if they manage to multiply? Where would they live? What will they eat? It seems too far fetched for me...
Also the heroine... She wants to run away from the aliens. OK, it's understandable, but where would she run? Outside? To die there? Mah...
I hope this is just some kind off prequel and that things will be explained more in depth in the future books!

I hate to leave negative scale reviews, but I felt an honest review needed to be left for this book. Hopefully the constructive criticism helps the author in the future if she tries this genre again.
The better parts of the book:
I'm leaving 2 stars instead of one due to the fact the aliens in the book sounded semi attractive and the leading male in this installment has potential, but the real stand out guy in the book is Hadrian.
The areas that need improvement, lots of discrepancies:
- The PARALYZING SEMEN was HORRIBLE anxiety inducing, NOT a turn on! Seriously, when the male would cum in the female she would be paralyzed for a good while to let the 'seed' take hold. Oh and let's not forget to mention he DID NOT EVEN WARN HER THE FIRST TIME IT WOULD HAPPEN. So not only did she not want sex, it was pretty much along the lines of rape, even though she did not fight him, he still should have warned her! What a jerk! It was ALL about him. Just wanting to breed this 'alien'. She was terrified! And her thoughts of the situation made it clear she did not want sex with him in the beginning and just did not fight him to try and make it easier on her. And then there's paralyzing cum!? Oh gah... NO.
- Forced submission / rape vibes. This is so played out in the alien romance genre! Can this be put to rest for a while? Perhaps with actual communication and better dialogue between characters so the males actually understand that in human culture it's not okay, the books feeling would drastically improve. But boy, in alien romance it's like let's rape the females and then when they get upset brush it off and the female just magically gets over it. Uh...no... The female BARELY explained that what he was doing was wrong. And that was AFTER she just gives in and says basically let's just get this over with. So just because you didn't fight, and you still didn't want it at first, it's 'rape' or to make it sound not so scary, 'forced submission' pretty much...but that never really gets the proper conversation or emotional processing that it's due in this book or many others in this genre. And she did not explain it in depth or in a way to make him understand what she was trying to get across to him. Then when Calix (another male character) was touching another female without consent the main male brushed off Aria complaining like it was no big deal. The other male Calix also didn't see the issue. And the female, Aria, made no effort to use the incident as a teaching moment, but ended up showing her butt and stomping off to another area of this 'facility'.
- The female Aria did not make hardly ANY effort to stop the experimentation / forced impregnation they kept calling 'implantation' attempts on the other human females in cryo sleep. WTF ? This should have been a hard line drawn in the sand. Instead this main female is all going around getting to know all the guys, having sex after she got over the whole rape vibe etc etc and basically until the end of the book ignores the other females. She made no complaints about the forced implantation attempts. And she's basically okay with all of the women just stuck in cryo.
-When she snatches one of the other girls to keep Calix from touching her, she doesn't even have appropriate dialogue to explain to the new girl, Emery, what is going on and does a piss poor job of looking out for her.
- She has a miscarriage from her first, while she was sleeping, implantation that ended up failing and there is like one to two lines where she kinda sorta is bothered by that then breezes on over it.... umm...
- The planet is apparently not habitable outside of the facility. Well, dang...that's depressing AF.
- So they have a spaceship and have space travel, but they didn't just leave that planet and go to one that's habitable instead when the species initially began having trouble? You know like to have a better life...find females instead of stealing them?
- Also, if the radiation is that bad that they need suits....how are they safely able to eat the animals they kill sometimes top side? These animals would have significant levels of radiation as well. How are they surviving? Was this just a radiation level in reference to the UV rays that this species could not tolerate? So then is that why the meat was okay? There were just a lot of unanswered questions / details left out.
There were just too many negatives in this book. There should definitely be an updated description on this book. And I'm still trying to figure out where all these graveling adoring reviews come from where they never take issue with anything in these romances where the females just cave in to the males and there is next to no emotional processing.

The Forgotten Commander is book one in the Lost Planet series by K. Webster & Nicole Blanchard.
I struggled all the way through this novel. This review maybe hard for others to understand or read. I tried not to disrespect the authors's work, but I needed to say what this book felt like to me.
I found this book disappointing and all kinds of wrong. It's an alien breeding romance with very little romance at all. It's more along the lines of Stockholm Syndrome.

Mmmm, está bien, pero es una lectura que me descolocó un poco. En primer lugar, está escrita en primera persona, en capítulos alternados entre los dos personajes principales, con un toque muy melancólico en la narrativa. Aún no logro definir si la novela gana o pierde con este estilo.
Ese tono opresivo se acentúa mucho más ya que la acción se desarrolla en un planeta prácticamente muerto a raíz de la radiación y las plagas, donde los únicos sobrevivientes son 10 hombres que pertenecían a un comando, y que viven en una instalación que, al parecer, antes era una nave espacial. Cada vez que salen al planeta es toda una odisea, ya que se exponen permanentemente a tormentas y especies animales muy peligrosas, y la vuelta a la instalación significa horas de limpieza y desinfección. En lo personal, no podía dejar de recrear en mi mente la película Riddick, protagonizada por Vin Diesel.
La desesperanza de estos hombres se atenúa cuando vuelve su pequeña nave de reconocimiento, que ha robado de un carguero espacial 5 tubos criogénicos con mujeres de la Tierra dormidas (nunca se sabe cómo llegaron a ese carguero) y ahí comienza un conflicto ético muy interesante respecto a inseminarlas mientras están inconscientes para salvar a su raza.
Las solo dos estrellas son porque, a pesar de una premisa muy interesante, la lectura es pesada y, en algunos momentos, falta de interés. Tampoco los personajes principales y sus actitudes fueron de mi agrado (creo que solo se salva la "cita" que organiza Breccan). He visto que las siguientes entregas de la serie tienen mejor puntuación, así que le voy a dar una oportunidad a ver si mejora para mí.
Ese tono opresivo se acentúa mucho más ya que la acción se desarrolla en un planeta prácticamente muerto a raíz de la radiación y las plagas, donde los únicos sobrevivientes son 10 hombres que pertenecían a un comando, y que viven en una instalación que, al parecer, antes era una nave espacial. Cada vez que salen al planeta es toda una odisea, ya que se exponen permanentemente a tormentas y especies animales muy peligrosas, y la vuelta a la instalación significa horas de limpieza y desinfección. En lo personal, no podía dejar de recrear en mi mente la película Riddick, protagonizada por Vin Diesel.
La desesperanza de estos hombres se atenúa cuando vuelve su pequeña nave de reconocimiento, que ha robado de un carguero espacial 5 tubos criogénicos con mujeres de la Tierra dormidas (nunca se sabe cómo llegaron a ese carguero) y ahí comienza un conflicto ético muy interesante respecto a inseminarlas mientras están inconscientes para salvar a su raza.
Las solo dos estrellas son porque, a pesar de una premisa muy interesante, la lectura es pesada y, en algunos momentos, falta de interés. Tampoco los personajes principales y sus actitudes fueron de mi agrado (creo que solo se salva la "cita" que organiza Breccan). He visto que las siguientes entregas de la serie tienen mejor puntuación, así que le voy a dar una oportunidad a ver si mejora para mí.

Despite my absolute, undying love for anything and everything Star Wars, I never thought I’d read a science fiction romance featuring aliens. K. Webster and Nicole Blanchard somehow convinced me that maybe aliens in romance aren’t as strange as my mind thought, because this series, in all its unusual, non-conforming quirkiness, is actually quite addicting. I was left gobsmacked at my frenzied reading pace of this introduction to this intriguing series, The Lost Planet.
Breccan Aloisius, protective commander to dying aliens, is desperate. When an unexpected disease wittles down his race, leaving ten males isolated within a destitute planet void of life—and females—there’s an immediate urgency to procreate when five female humans appear in cryo-tubes, asleep and unaware of what awaits outside.

Aria is an actress that wakes up from cryo sleep to find a race of alien humanoid men that appear more vampiric than alien or human and they are trying to breed her; talk about nightmares. After a day, perhaps a day and a half, or maybe even two days and she is already content and accepts her reality after her vampiric abductor almost fried to give her the pleasure of sunlight. This all sounds very fascinating but the truth is that she dominates him and he is not the dominate macho man in the relationship.
"Her expression is sad and her delicious tears threaten to leak down her spotted cheeks. Perhaps I'll lick her for an after-dinner sweet."
He is always taking about the time that Draven this and the time Draven that, I guess I understand why he only talks about a handful of people since there are only 10 people alive in that shitty cursed planet. They have technology to get out of it but they don't, how progressive.
It all happened to fast, she learned to trust him and even came to love him so quickly. She took power to rule not only the other man when it comes to the other females but she also rules the commander like a matriarch.
The reason I don't like the ending is because she becomes madam commander over the women and this will disrupt the social balance of the other morts and the human they choose as their mates. What are they going to do, date?

Awful, another sci-fi romance that isn't romance but rather porn that glorifies rape. Within minutes of Aria, the MFC, waking up to realise she's bleeding with blood running down her legs from being impregnated and miscarrying without her knowledge or agreement she's then surrounded by ten very alien looking aliens who are damn right nasty because she's bleeding. The MMC is threatening to stick her back in the cryotube because the pregnancy didn't take, like it's all her fault. They had stolen her from a ship in space but didn't even bother to tell her that. Then he chases her, drags her around, holds her against a wall by her throat and feels her up all whilst getting a hard on then deciding he'll 'mate her himself'. It just gets worse from there.

Naturally since I just finished one K. Webster series, I need to start another one.
So, I picked this one. It bears the same plot as Ice Planet Barbarians (a group of all male aliens facing extinction found a group of girls comatose in these cryogenic pods, one awaken and breeding ensued).
Except, it was less world building, less consensual, and less fun.

Madam Commander...
These were the terms of endearment, which Breccan spoke to Aria time and time again. After reading this alien story, I wanted my own mort. I wanted to be part of Aria's sub-faction. I'm going to be truthful. I wasn't quite true how this was going to play out. I've never read any type of alien story romance or otherwise.
I'm glad that I took a chance and went into the story with an open mind. I wanted to be fierce, independent, and loyal like Aria. I wanted to be in Breccan's presence because he exhibited so much protection and love. Who knew? The way Breccan spoke to his people and Aria had me saying hell yeah...
“You are more important than my own life. Than anything. No solar is worth living without you in it."
Damn... I wanted more of those sweet words from Breccan. He was full of a different light when Aria was near and it made his words and actions that much sweeter. And mortarekking, I need the next installment like yesterday. Not today but mortarekking yesterday.

First let me say I'M NOT A SCIENCE FICTION FAN, like AT ALL. However, this book was absolutely AMAZING like really amazing, and it was soooo funny.

Aria is a human being, she was a movie star in Hollywood and some way some how she ended up in a different galaxy. To wake up in a whole new universe surround by 10 creepy creatures that wants to impregnate her, is a nightmare. But when to instinct to survive takes over, the decisions we make don't always make sense.
I really enjoyed this book, it was a short fun read and kinda hot 🔥.

Blasts of radiation and Rades, a terminal fatal disease that resulted from the radiation, has all but decimated the inhabitants of planet Mortuus. Only ten male Morts remain before their species becomes extinct.
A unbelievable rare miracle results in five cryotubes containing alien females coming to their planet. Initial tests are optimistic that these females are a match with the Morts bringing hope. Hope that they can breed the females.
Not all is as simple as thought when the first female is brought out of cryosleep. Specien Az-1 refuses to blindly cooperate with being a brood mare to repopulate their planet. She has certain conditions and requirements.
With the females as their last hope for their future, Commander Breccan Alosius will do whatever it takes to gain Aria's cooperation.

Simplistically, this is a story about an alien race dying out, only ten males left surviving in horrible conditions because of ongoing high levels of radiation. When all looks lost and bleak, enter females, females who can be bred. This book goes into the circumstances surrounding this set up.
Breccan & Aria. Each had baggage and angst issues to deal with. Additionally, their circumstances are a stark look at what could happen when humanity fails to invest in protecting their planet and their own bodies. Yet. There's hope.
Secondary characters. There is a limited cast of characters as there are only ten males aliens and one female (out of cryosleep). Of course it is a given that each will be featured in a future installment which allows readers to root for their favorite. The epilogue provides a teaser of the next couple, Calix & Emery, who will be next up.
As a fan of SciFi and alien romance, I wanted to like this book more than I did. I wanted to immerse myself in the story appreciating it's content. For whatever reason I just didn't. Not sure why except for the feeling that I've read this sort of story line in different fashions, different circumstances multiple times before.
A solid read for those who appreciate this author's other works that provides a comfort level feel good story.

DNF 36% (at the end of chapter 7)
I have two main reason for DNFing this book. Alien romances of this sort, what I generally call the Mars Needs Women trope, where a planet of all or mostly males needs women to procreate, walk a very careful line. Often the women come into the arrangement initially unwilling and the reader must be convinced that they've come around to willing participation and it must happen before the author commits some transgression against them. The Forgotten Commander fails utterly at this. 5 women are kidnapped, one is awake and conscious. The aliens take liberties with her body as she sleeps, then when she wakes one claims her as a "mate" and rapes her. Now Webster played the old "she orgasmed so it can't be rape" card pretty hard. But the first sex scene is unquestionably, 100% rape. Perhaps not the fighting, screaming and biting kind, but definitely the can't escape and can't say no sort. There simply isn't any coming back from that except to shape the female character as the sort to like it and you can fuck right off with that shit, honestly.
Secondly, the use of nog and rekking (among others) were driving me crazy. A nog is a head and rekking is a curse of some sort. But the characters still say ears and nose and eyes and cock, so why nog for head? The inconsistency annoyed me and the kitschy words crawled under my skin.
All in all, I'm just not subjecting myself to any more.

Wow
I'm absolutely under shock. Of all the types of stories I could have come to expect from either author, this book as not it. I love how science fiction novels gives author's the opportunity to let their imaginations run wild and the forgotten commander was exactly that. It was captivating, imaginative, unforgettable and I simply cannot wait for the next instalment to find out what's to happen to these Morts and humans.

Lots of fun, a little weird, but so different and with a lot of possibilities for future books. I'm weird in that ever since reading the epic masterpiece that is The Last Hour of Gann, I love alien books. This was not on par with that one, but like I said...lots of fun.

4.25 Mortarekking Stars!
I don’t do sci-fi romance. I don’t do aliens. But this book? Yep, I can definitely do and I did it with a smile on my face and a skip in my step because I found The Forgotten Commander so damn interesting! The alien life, their culture, all the different names and slang terms they had for things we use every day, it was so creative and I loved it!
I’ll admit, if K. Webster wouldn’t have co-wrote this book, I more than likely wouldn’t have read it, just because of the content (sci-fi and aliens)… but I’m soooo glad I did because this book was highly enjoyable. It wasn’t too angsty, it wasn’t emotional, it was simply about aliens breeding with human women to repopulate their dying planet with a hot romance involved.
But these alien/Mort dudes weren’t that different from humans. The only thing sort of unappealing about them, to me, was their forked tongues, but according to Aria (heroine), she really loooooved the forked tongue, especially down there… if ya know what I’m saying.
There are only 10 Mort males left on the planet Mortuus. Almost their entire population was wiped out from a deadly disease. They had all but given up hope until they found human women in deep-sleep ‘cryo-tubes’ on a passing ship and stole them. Aria was the first to wake so it was the Commander who got to claim her first.
I loved Aria’s character. She was feisty and she let these sexy alien dudes know that she wasn’t just going to be a breeding cow. Breccan, the commander, had a lot to learn about human females but he adjusted quickly because he was smitten with Aria and all of her little human quirks and would do absolutely anything to please his little alien.
The Forgotten Commander was sexy, hot, creative and addicting. I was immediately drawn into this story from the first page and I wish I wouldn’t have had to put it down the few times that I did to do ‘life’, but alas, I have kids to be fed and work to be done. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading a book by Nicole Blanchard before now, but after reading this book and not being able to tell who wrote which part because it was so well-written, I’ll be definitely adding her to my TBR list.
This book wasn’t just alien erotica, there was a well-developed story here and one that I was definitely sucked into. The world-building, the characters… I enjoyed all of it and will definitely be continuing with this series because there’s going to be several other hot alien vampires with elf ears, who I all fell in love with, to read about in future books. I definitely recommend this one for a great read!

4 ‘Rekking’ Stars***
I don’t read much SciFi, I have a couplefew on the list, but it’s a short one, but when K Webster announced this new series I was all in (#fangirl here). It didn’t matter the genre (or sub genre in this case), I needed to get my hands on her words and a bonus was I’d get to experience an author I have wanted to read, but haven’t had the time to and I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a quick, fun and smexy read that is filled with characters I want to know more about and a world I want to explore.
I loved Breccan and Aria. Breccan is definitely the Commander. Protective, decisive and all about looking out for the best interests of his people. He has his faults but isn’t so bull headed that he isn’t able to adjust to a new way of thinking. Aria is a fighter, she had to be in order to make sense of the world she now lives in, and I enjoyed watching as she not only settled into things, but also voiced her own needs and opinions when necessary.
Breccan and Aria’s journey was a fun one. It was rocky in the beginning as they both worked to figure the other out, but once they did things evened out. The little bump in the road wasn’t a surprise at all and I liked how it al worked out for them in the end.
The writing was engaging and seamlessly done and I could tell that these two authors had a lot of fun creating the world of Mortuus. It’s vibrant and interesting and I really enjoyed how they brought it to life and explained it all without it feeling like an information dump was going on. As for the support cast of characters, Draven and Oz are the two I’m most drawn to, but I’m really looking forward to getting to know each one better and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book and find out what will happen next!

I have read a bit of Sci-Fi- romance novels some are hit, some are misses but I have to say this was a hit. K and Nicole bring a different light to the sci-fi range and I liked it.
In this series (for now) we get one alien and one female (we usually get a reverse harem theme going on), we have a male Breccan Aloisius who is the commanding officer who has come to terms with never having a future. These men know that they will never see a woman and have children. When a ship full of women are found they are kidnapped by Breccan and his men in hopes to bring a future to these men and their planet.
When Aria wakes up she is not too happy to find herself being kidnapped. At the same time Aria is not in a good place personally so maybe this is for the best if only she would let things ride out. If Aria doesn't take stock of what she has now she might find herself in more danger than she ever has been before.
Although these two do find a happy ever after, it does end in a cliff hanger for the next couple. I can't wait to see where the next book goes!

While there really wasn’t anything “new” in this book - heroine wakes up in alien world where population is dwindling rapidly and they need women as mates, make babies and save their race I really enjoyed this one. It kind of was like Dixon’s IPB in reverse with a hot radioactive planet instead of “not Hoth” but like the first in that series there is good world building, a likeable heroine and a swoon-y hero. Will definitely check out the next ones especially Dravens book (scarred brooding “broken” hero - my jam!!).
