Biography

2021-22 (Senior):
  • Awards and Honors: Named to the MPSF All-Academic Team and garnered three MPSF First Team selections (one-meter, three-meter and platform diving).
  • Placed second in the 3-meter (370.00) at the tri-meet against Arizona and Wisconsin (Oct. 22-23, 2021).
  • Notched first place in both the 1-meter (321.35) and 3-meter dives (368.75)  at the UNLV and Wyoming tri-meet held on Jan. 28-29, 2022.
  • Claimed first place for the 3-meter dive (403.75) at the MPSF conference championships. Also placed second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 355.85 (Feb. 16-19).


2019-20 (Sophomore): 
  • Awards and Honors: CSCAA All-American Team, CSCAA Scholar All-American Team, and MPSF All-Academic Team.
  • Qualified for the NCAA Championships on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard, by finishing 4th on 3-meter (374.70) at the NCAA Zone E Qualifying meet, and 8th on 1-meter (301.25).
  • Placed 2nd on 3-meter at the MPSF Conference Championships (Feb. 20-22) with a score of 413.75. Finished 3rd on 1-meter (343.35), and 7th on Platform (295.80).
  • Max had two first-place finishes this year, the first being a tri-meet with Arizona and Denver (Oct. 25) in the 1-meter event (321.05), and placed 1st at the Wally Nakamoto Invite (Jan. 9) in the 3-meter event (369.65). 
  • Placed 2nd on 1-meter (357.60) and 4th on 3-meter (354.90) at the Texas A&M Invite (Nov. 21).
  • At the UCLA Bruin Diving Invitational (Jan. 17-19), Max placed 3rd on 3-meter (365.40), 7th on 1-meter (295.30) and scored a personal best on platform with 308.20 and an 8th place finish.
  • The CSCAA awarded Max Burman All American honors on both 1-meter and 3-meter for qualifying for the 2020 NCAA Championships which were canceled.
  • Named to the MPSF All-Academic Team
  • Earned UH Scholar-Athlete Award.

2018-19 (Freshman):
  • Awards and Honors: Named MPSF Freshman of the Year for Swimming and Diving and garnered three all-MPSF selections including first-team honors in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving. Received second-team recognition in the platform diving.
  • MPSF Championships (Feb. 20-23): Earned two 1st place finishes, helping the Rainbow Warriors to a first-place finish. Earned gold in the 1-meter (374.50) and the 3-meter (378.65), while registering a fifth-place finish in platform (321.95).
  • Selected as the University of Hawai‘i Newcomer of the Year for all sports. 
  • vs. Cal State Bakersfield (Oct. 18-19): first in 1-meter (319.65), 2nd in 3-meter (348.25)
  • Lancer Diving Invite Cal Baptist (Oct. 20): third in the 1-meter Finals (331.15)
  • Wally Nakamoto Diving Invite (Jan. 3-5): first in 1-meter (302.45), second in 3-meter (342.60)

Prep:
  • Swedish Junior National Champion in 1-meter and 3-meter in 2016 and 2017
  • Competed in Junior European Championship in 2016 and 2017
  • Swedish Senior National Champion in 1-meter and 3-meter  in 2017
