Scheduling an appointment? Trying for a quick drop-in?

Either way, just follow these easy steps:

1. Go to https://gonzaga.mywconline.com/

2. For an appointment, select a white box (open time).

3. For a drop-in visit, either visit the Writing Center (Foley 121) or select either a white or a gray box and click on the tutor's Zoom link (located just below the person's bio profile).

The tutors are working in person, in Foley 121. If necessary, however, you can schedule a synchronous online session with a tutor. In that case, follow these steps:

Before your synchronous online tutoring session is scheduled to begin (in Pacific Time)

1. Secure access both to an internet connection and either a laptop or desktop computer. Make sure you have a computer with a camera and a microphone. Smart phones and tablets typically are not as well-suited for online tutoring, but we will do our best if you elect to use one of those devices.

2. On the day of your appointment, find a quiet place where you will not be distracted. Think about camera angle, what is displayed in your background, lighting in the room, etc. Settle into your spot!

3. Make sure you have at hand your course information, draft materials, notes, and a pen and paper.

4. Please log in 5-10 minutes before the start time and click again on the box in the Schedule that matches the time of your session. Within the pop-up menu, click on the link that is right below the tutor's bio profile.

5. Once connected, the tutor will begin the session. Please unmute your mic and turn on video. While in the session, please be an active learner and engage with your tutor! You two will work using a video chat to discuss your writing project and even have the capability to share on screen any documents you may have. To the extent possible, we try to facilitate our online tutoring as a reflection of our usual face-to-face sessions. (Please note that although the technology exists to attach a file when you book an online appointment, we ask that you not do that because our tutors do not review work ahead of the session.)

6. At the end of your session, your tutor will stop the virtual meeting. If you like, you could then log back into the Schedule and make another appointment!

7. For online appointments, it is your responsibility to ensure your technology works. Seek assistance from ITS or other support services, if necessary. However, if we don't see you online at the time of your appointment, we will try to check in with you via email. Therefore, please keep an eye on your inbox, especially if you are experiencing any difficulties logging in to the session. Thanks.

We look forward to working with you!

Questions or feedback? You are welcome to email us at writingcenter@zagmail.gonzaga.edu, or to fill out the anonymous feedback survey emailed to you at the end of your session.

You may also get on the wait list to be notified of a cancellation by clicking on the "Waiting List" hyperlink at the bottom right of the Schedule page for the time and date you are trying to schedule.

If you are not able to schedule due to Writing Center tutor schedules continually being full, please email writingcenter@zagmail.gonzaga.edu to let us know. We will accommodate you if we can!

To provide the greatest opportunity for facilitating critical-but-sensitive dialogue about your writing processes and writing, we offer these parameters regarding the writing tutoring appointments:

1. All appointments must begin on on the half hour or on the hour.

2. Appointments cannot be scheduled back-to-back (though if you schedule two 30-minute appointments back-to-back, that is fine and even encouraged for longer projects and for synchronous online tutoring sessions).

3. The Writing Center schedule is in Pacific Time.

These criteria will allow us to serve more writers while allowing enough time for fruitful meetings. If you notice an opening in the schedule, however, you are welcome to visit the Writing Center Schedule page to see about the possibility of meeting with a tutor for a brief conversation.

Again, we look forward to working with you!
