Marketing & Public Relations Assistant: 2019-2020

Job Summary:
All student staff are essential to the daily operations of the University Career Center, which provides career services to all 6,800 Georgia College students. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Marketing & Public Relations Assistant is a part-time student assistant that serves as a member of the office’s marketing team helping to increase student engagement with the Career Center by promoting career education events, programs, meet-ups/workshops, career fairs, and career-related technology. The Marketing & Public Relations Assistant performs a key role in increasing student awareness and use of the Career Center as well as managing its campus brand. 

Essential Duties:
·       Lead, develop, coordinate, and measure promotional strategies for Career Center events and programs aimed to increase student participation with career resources. Events and programs could include Career Planning Milestones, Career & Internship Expos, Graduate & Professional School Fair, major/industry-specific career fairs, career education meet-ups/workshops, resume review days, mock interview days, or career technology such as Handshake, the campus job & internship database, or InterviewStream.
·       Develop, write, and manage content for multiple social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Wordpress blog, weekly newsletter).
·       Coordinate various public relations/marketing techniques depending on office goals and event strategy. This may include activities such as designing bulletin boards or flyers, crafting email promotions, campus tabling, outreaching to student organizations, engaging with academic departments/faculty, writing blog posts, researching concepts/ideas, posting announcements, developing photo/story video projects, arranging interviews/articles with campus press, presenting at meetings or hosting radio/news projects, and/or other strategies to expand the Career Center’s campus presence.
·       Assist with front desk operations including greeting students, employers, and other guests who enter the office, schedule appointments, answer phones and complete other administrative tasks as assigned.
·       Outreach to and communicate with key student groups to identify opportunities for partnership and promotion of career events and resources.
·       Assist with career fairs and events including event logistics, set-up/break-down, social media content during events, and other assigned tasks.
Provide high quality customer service assistance to students, employers, faculty, staff, alumni, and other customers that engage with the Career Center. 

Minimum Qualifications:
·       Proficient knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
·       Must be proficient and comfortable with technology and Windows-based computers (e.g., changing file types, learning new software quickly, using social media mediums, converting files, transferring data from one program to another, embedding photos, editing documents, formatting files, mail merges).
·       Must have strong writing, editing, and design skills to create professional and polished content for social media channels, blogs, emails, flyers. and other promotional materials.
·       Must have user proficiency with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
·       Knowledge of Hootsuite, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, video editing software, Canva, and/or MS Publisher a plus, but not required.
·       Any major with an interest in marketing, advertising, public relations, social media, and/or event promotion.
·       Familiarity/use of the Career Center is strongly preferred.
