One of America’s Best Buys

The U of A is one of “America’s 100 Best College Buys,” according to U.S. News and World Report. Princeton Review describes the university as “among the most affordable of major research universities” in the country.

 

Corporate leaders, broadcasters, scholars, psychologists, scientists and performing artists. Alumnus Robert Maurer is the co-inventor of fiber optic cable, and Edith Irby Jones became the first black graduate from the University of Arkansas School for Medical Sciences. The Science Education Partnership Award program awarded the U of A $1.25 million to support STEAM education (science, technology, engineering, art and math) for underrepresented students.Next time you call the Fayetteville Police Department (FPD), depending on the kind of help you need, you just might meet one of the embedded social workers who are part of the department’s Crisis Intervention Team. Sallie Hendrix from Paragould, William Rowe from Conway, Jenna Wheeler of Van Buren and Doug Harnish of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, have been selected as this year’s drum majors.This past August intersession, the undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in Bryan Hurt’s “Pit Lit” course (ENGL 4603/5243) dove deep into the course topic, literally.
